A comfortable location, tables well-spaced inside and out; attentive service, best of all, excellent food makes Josephine's well-worth visiting - lunch is particularly nice, relaxed, unhurried in an otherwise busy community (although dinner-time is busy, it's worth visiting for a hearty meal.

Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar serves seasonal, farm focused, contemporary American cuisine, prepared with fresh ingredients sourced from the local farmers and ranchers of Northern Arizona and the Four Corners region. Brix Restaurant & Wine Bar opened in Flag
Everyone has raved about the restaurant - it is elegant; the service is impeccable and the food itself is good for some dishes; not so good for others. First, I have a problem with restaurants that charge for bread. Bread that was ordinary and on the menu - It was called an Artisanal Bread Board with accompaniments and consisted of six slices of Bread (and not really tasty - did not have a good chew or good crust) on a Board with butter and olive oil. The salads were good and are generous enough for to be split for two. Every dish was excruciating described with some ingredients that you had to look up that often were nothing more than a garnish to the dish and did not really impact on the taste or flavor or the dish itself. I ordered the appetizer scallops - two very large diver scallops with a grilled rice cake - quite good until you ate the grilled rice cake which tasted of burnt or bad oil. My friend had the Sausage Cavatelli - very good except for the very spicy kale that was inedible and not described as spicy on the menu. My husband had the Poached Scottish Salmon with roasted beets, confit fennel, charred fava bean puree, capers, salmon skin chicharrones. There were two or three button sized beet pieces, a dab of puree, etc.,a good size tasty piece of salmon. Everything except the Salmon was a garnish. We didn't bother with dessert because as with all the dishes on the menu, the dessert descriptions were so pretentious it didn't seem worth it. I have eaten in fine restaurants all over the world including Michelin starred restaurants - this menu takes the cake and not in a good way.

While a little hard to find, (it is located on the main drag in Flagstaff, Route 66, just behind Babbitt Ford Used Cars), this quaint restaurant reflects the values and expertise of the owner/chef. She makes outstanding food that is quite unique and delicious. Originally just a catering service, the restaurant now offers a special menu of great food.Highly recommend.
