Edinburgh’s neighborhoods developed as the city did. Originally its heart lay in the alleys and cobbled streets of the Old Town, below the castle. Then, in the late-18th century, the residential focus shifted north to a huge planned Georgian New Town. That’s now become the city’s business center, while visitor attractions and nightlife have become fairly evenly shared between these two central districts. Around them, a ring of residential districts now house most of those living in central Edinburgh. Though less good for sightseeing, these neighborhoods are just as busy and typified by thriving restaurant scenes and large parks.

This is the second Michelin Star restaurant we have visited this year. What a fabulous experience. It has the character found in Leith and celebrates its location and regional foods by being unpretentious and fitting in to the setting. Once inside the atmosphere clearly indicates that one has stepped up to another dining experience. The service was attentive without being intrusive. Each plate was presented as a work of art, which seems to be a hallmark of award winning restaurants. Once seated one begins to be served multiple, tastes, and bits of interesting Bites. Itâs a bit pretentious, one bread choice was described in heavy French accent as having porridge, I asked âoatmeal?â , yes, oatmeal bread with three butters or toppings in tiny arranged dishes. I chose a lamb main course that my husband described as so tender âyou could eat it if you had no teethâ with a lovely crusty top breading. I would return for that. He had an amazing fish main. One thing we enjoyed, all diners seemed were dressed as if this was special. We agree, it is special.

Very welcoming staff on arrival - indeed everyone we came across was very polite, helpful, friendly and professional. We opted for the tasting menu which was really enjoyable - the standout courses for us were scallop and curry sauce, a mini "burger" (incredibly imaginative) and the chocolate and orange dessert. There was one weaker dish (beef with spelt risotto) which was only let down because some of the beef was tough - flavours still lovely. The wine menu is vast, but we found a tasty Pinot Blanc which went well with everything - rather than opting for the matched wines. We visited on a Saturday, so expected it to be busy, but as the evening progressed and the tables (which are fairly close together) filled up it became very noisy so we finished with coffee and delicious petit fours in the bar.On the whole a really enjoyable experience.

Our group of four really enjoyed our Sunday lunch here at the weekend. The food was amazing and we had excellent service from our Brazilian waiter, who was very warm and friendly! The atmosphere at Dine is very relaxed and comfortable. We all said what a fantastic meal and that we will definitely be back when we return to Edinburgh! Thanks to everyone there for such a lovely experience.

Tuesday evening dinner for 2 at The Kitchen. Very impressive and relaxed setting with super friendly and attentive staff. We were swayed by the sound of the duck pathivier main course so opted to go for that. We had pheasant and sweetbread staters which we loved. The main course was an absolute treat. Quite superb and absolutely perfect in every way. We shared a chocolate soufflé with salted caramel sauce which rounded off a lovely meal.

Stockbridge might be off the beaten track for some people in Edinburgh, but a visit to Radicibus is more than worth it. The complimentary pre starter was an explosion of wonderful flavours. The bucatini alla amatriciana was perfect - freshly made pasta, rich tomato sauce and melt in mouth pigâs cheeks. Even the biscuit in the tiramisu are home made. Giovanni exudes passion about the food and the service is warm and informative.

Expect to encounter a multi-sensory experience; visual, textual, taste. Simplistic and natural interiors, complementing the effortless and fresh cuisine that follows the roots of culinary principles in Italy: excellent quality ingredients, honest cooking
Great restaurant, hard to find, well there we were surprised by a lovely Prosecco, three amuse bouches, starters like grouse or ravioli with truffles (generous) followed by mains, venison with hazelnut or guineafowl. Interesting but short winelist. Dessert was a divine nutella accompamied by an icecold expressomartini. All in all was this a great experience and in my humble opinion they deserve one star in The Michelin Guide. When the bill came I was surprised, prepared to pay at least 100£ more than I had to!

Wonderful restaurant on the south side of Edinburgh serving 8 course gastronomic delights with wonderfully matched wines. Service is excellent as is the preparation of the tasting menu. Condita is one of those no menu places. Owned by fine dining consultant, Mark Slaney, their head chef is Conor Toomey, formerly of the Isle of Eriska Hotel. Before taking charge of the kitchen at Eriska, Conor was executive chef at Amberley Castle at Arundel, head chef at Storrs Hall at Windermere and head chef at Coworth Park, Ascot. All of these held a prestigious 3 Rosettes in the AA Restaurant Guide.Highly Recommended.
