The Chateau de Rochegude, located in the heart of the Provencal Drome region, majestically overlooks the Cotes du Rhone vineyards. The cellars of the chateau boast some of the best Cotes du Rhone and are a starting point for wine tastings in the surrounding vineyards. Other activities include a visit to the Ardeche Caves or to the Roman remains such as those in Vaison-la-Romaine, the Pont du Gard, the antique theater in Orange… There is so much to discover in this region! On your return to the chateau enjoy a plate of warm, crunchy truffles, steamed in butter, accompanied by eggs and slices of toast.

We stayed here on Valentine's Day weekend (but the Friday, not the Saturday). Centrally located between the "pierres dorées" area (fabulous visit, do not miss), and the northern part of the Beaujolais region that then spills into southern Burgundy. The man at the reception desk turned out to be the owner, a wonderful person intent on satisfying our every need. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and the bathroom of good size. We had dinner at the restaurant and it was awesome not only the food but the ambiance and the whole dining experience. A great place to stay!

Fantastic two day stay in a real castle, small part of heaven within walking distance of Aurillac. Really worth every penny spent. The lot ( two hectares of garden and woods) the silence, the furniture , the breakfast ... but above all, the owners are two characters above the average!

Château des Edelins is a centuries-old hunting mansion founded to welcome guests in 1638. Inside you’ll find beautiful spacious rooms, an apartment (gîte), a dining room and a salon. Outside we invite you to our park: green lawns, pleasant corners, an orchard, a wonderful terrace and a nice swimming pool. Kids can play everywhere, for adults there is peace & quiet: we simply have lots of space!A good night sleep in a large bed, single or double (180 x 200 cm). Your own bathroom with shower or bath and shower. In your room you'll have an old fireplace, easy chairs and a nice view on the garden. Choose from a double room, the family wing (2 doubles & 2 bathrooms) or the apartment (patio, bathroom, kitchen, salon & 2 bedrooms).Within the château there is a nice salon with television, a dining room, great marble fireplaces and many books for those who want to read.
We stayed at Chateau des Edelins for 4 nights and had a great time here! The Chateau and its surroundings are really beautiful and spacious. Also there are some really nice villages closeby to see overday. End the day with some really nice wine and the amazing food that the (very kind) owner cooks herself! The room we stayed in was very nice and the beds were super comfortable. All in all, we had an amazing stay and would highly recommend staying here. We will be coming back for sure!

This is a fine family-owned chateau which dates back to the 13th and 15th centuries and which offers character bed & breakfast accommodation 15 minutes from junction 11 of the A71 autoroute, 45 minutes North of Clermont-Ferrand and 3 hours from Paris. Here, you will enjoy a real chateau experience with canopied and four-poster beds, big fireplaces, old exposed stone walls and ancient beams. Dogs are accepted at no extra charge.
Just spent a night at the Chateau and hopefully will be back. We booked the tower room and it did not disappoint. The lady who looked after us couldn't have been nicer. We booked an evening meal and it was delicious 4 course with coffee and wine. The breakfast was lovely and plentiful. The Chateau has kept its olde world charm. I would recommend booking direct. We were on a road trip from England to Greece so after a long first day this was just what the doctor ordered and hopefully on our trip back we will be back to the chateau

Framed by a forested valley and mountainous horizons, this 17th-century chateau marries Provencal peace with deep comfort and style. Eric greets you in a courtyard whose manicured hedges and white roses dissolve into parkland: a panoramic pool, Japanese fish pond, tennis court, jacuzzi... Under vaulted ceilings are more treats: a log fire, piano, candles, art, and Turkish cushions in the orangery where you may dine usually on Sunday evening on iced melon soup and quail. Sprightly Eric cooks, serves, pours and chats all the while. Immaculate rooms have space for families and the valley cries out for walking, riding and fishing in the Rhone.
We were met by an 80 year old man who did not introduce himself and shown to our rooms, Both rooms had a tiny ensuite but only one room has a kettle. The towels were almost threadbare and the glasses in the bathroom were filthy. In fact the whole place was filthy with cobwebs everywhere. We were given no information about breakfast which I wasn't keen to eat after seeing the bowl of rotten fruit in kitchen and a dead owl in the patio area. We later discovered the the old man was Bernard who sat in one of the rooms watching television and then went to bed leaving all the upstairs windows open which we had to go round and close. Got no sleep because the big grandfather clock downstairs chimed loudly every 15 minutes all night long. Bernard appeared on the landing at 8.45 shouting breakfast was ready downstairs which consisted of cold coffee and warm over cooked croissants, a few grapes and yoghurt. There was art work everywhere which was very interesting so as a museum I would pay 10 euros to see the place but definitely not worth the 100 euros we paid to stay here. So disappointed because the place looked fantastic in the photos but the chateau is now uncared for and unkempt. Free wifi only downstairs in the sitting room Terrible experience.

We spent a night at the Chateau de Coudrée, iN Sciez near Thonon. This was a long time dream of ours, probably the only hotel-chateau which has a real beach on Lac Léman. The beach is magic, the look fo the castle as well. This could be an absolutely exceptional place. Unfortunately it's run on low cost, low investment and low marketing. So the rooms are like they were 30 years ago, except for the bathroom which are renovated. The mix of designs (ancient france, lamps of the 70's, chinese vases, modern art, etc.) is very unfortunate. This place could really become unique and amazing, and i hope something will change to make that happen. Lac Léman has so few unique places....
