This café is both informal and yet has an authentic "home made" feel plus a great selection of what look like home made cakes, and that taste excellent. It is always very popular and feels like a favorite community point, so good for those who like a great "village" type atmosphere.

IâM RITA KEENAN Iâve always loved food ! I grew up on homemade food, prepared from scratch. I can still smell the fresh basil my grandmother would use in her delicious mediterranean dishes made from ripe vegetables and aromatic herbs. Today I love to cook
Visited on Tuesday with a friend. She chose veggie, halloumi burger and sweet potato fries. I chose the vegan breakfast. We had lattes. Both came out piping hot, and were very welcome. Staff friendly and attentive, very smiley. My breakfast came out on a huge plate, being a fat greedy c*w, I managed the who plateful, really filling, fresh and well presented. Did find the avocado against the hot food strange, but I love avocado, so who cares. By the way the bread was beautiful! My pal said hers was absolutely delish. Highly recommend and will definitely be back. Would mention, be great if you had more vegan choices, but not a deal breaker. Well done. Lovely.

Family and dog friendly, home made food, 100% vegan. Small and cosy cafe, warm welcome. Daily specials, great coffee
I really loved the relaxed, informal atmosphere at The Green Kitchen. It was very much like visiting a friend for lunch as you can see exactly where the food is made - nothing is hidden from view. I thoroughly enjoyed the burger and green smoothie (special mention to the coleslaw accompanying the burger - wow!).The only thing that has kept this from 5 stars is that, due to the relaxed vibe, we had to wait a little longer than I'd have expected for a couple of items we ordered. For me, on a Sunday, this was not a big deal however I'm aware that other people may not feel the same so I have tried to review fairly.Thank you for your review, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit and can only apologise for the slow service. Sundays are becoming increasingly busy, I think I need more staff. I hope we see you again, love Heather and the team.

Having been to this cafe before and enjoyed our lunch was disappointed on 2 subsequent visitsI ordered the same toasted cheese and tomato sandwich as before but it arrived without any garnish or the tasty vegetable crisps that had previously accompanied it . When I inquired I was told they had run out!St the next visit the same thing happened but I was told that they couldnât get the crisps from the suppliers anymore!Surely when you are paying £4.25 for a toastie which isnât cheap they can supply some garnish of some sort!!

Looking for a hearty brunch, quick bite to eat or a steaming cup of coffee? The George Street Canteen has all you need. Tucked away in the heart of St Albans City centre this family run cafe serves wonderfully comforting home made food speciality coffee a
The Canteen does not have a large indoor seating area, but the outside is beautiful and overlooks the St Albans Cathedral. The food is fresh, healthy, and very well prepared with the brunch items a particular favourite. The hidden nature of George Street means that you are a 5 min walk to the heart of St Albans and the marketplace, but tucked away in a quiet garden. The service is always lovely and this is one of the place I love to take visitors to St A. My only disappointment is that it not open for dinner.
