Middle Street Foods

a friend from newburyport introduced me to this better than average cafe when i last visited. it is definitely no frills - menus on blackboards, counter service, grab a seat wherever you can find one. but the food is really really good - fresh breads and pastries, wonderful salads and house made soups that vary from day to day. the food is consistently GOOD!!! i have been (and will continue to be) back and enjoy it every time!

Browsing through Newburyport, found good reviews for Angie's and decided to give it a try. Line went to the back of the restaurant but moved quickly. Standard mom and pop diner menu. Cheesesteak and gyro were both very good, coffee refills plentiful, good seasoned waitress. Perfect spot for a good quick meal, would definitely return.

The people at the little maritime museum across the way recommended this restaurant. We were looking for a late afternoon snack. It looks like a diner from the outside. It is gigantic inside. Many rooms. Our snack turned into a great fried Ipswich Belly clam lunch/dinner. One platter was enough for us to share with a cup of chowder to start. I rarely get fried clams, as they are usually small, and stringy. These were nice big belly clams and fresh. Two sides came with it. The slaw was very good and we got the green beans. The cornbread was like a dessert! Service was friendly and attentive. Drink refills came when needed.

This has become a favorite breakfast and lunch place. They treat eggs with respect and offer lots of interesting specials, always including some Brazillian dishes. I had a new black bean and pork soup today, and loved it. The room is attractive and the service is attentive and quick. What's not to love?

The other reviews were right! The french toast bagel was awesome! Bought an assortment (wish I bought a few more of the french toast ones!) along with their homemade cream cheese. Yum! Ate them at our AirBnb - not much seating, although there’s a beautiful courtyard nearby.

We had brunch on our way to Crane Beach. The owners and the staff were very friendly. The location is great, right in downtown Ipswich. The decor is an homage to the good old days of rock n' roll. The blueberry pancakes and the omelette were delicious.

Friendly service, hot coffee. That's the good. The bad - my pancake were not cooked on the inside, still wet, but overlooked on the outside. (Turn your griddle down, )The eggs were eggs, nothing above the ordinary. Home fries were nothing special, not even crispy. Bacon was good. Hash was decent. Would go somewhere else next time.
