Things to do in Nanyuki Town
My partner and I stopped for quick sit down dinner. I ordered a Cafe Lattè which came in a takeaway cup but I was sitting down. When I asked why, all I got was sorry. Then we ordered Ben's Burgers which was dry and no cheese. The chef argued that he put the minimum amount that he was allowed too and when I opened my burger to show him there was nothing.. He brought some in a plate... Very disappointing because I expect same level of service and foods from all Java's. And I make a point of visiting a Java on all my Kenya trips...
An oasis of peace and tranquility on the main road. Walled courtyard garden for outdoor dining. Great wholesome food - burgers, salads and smoothies. Right next door to 'Blue Rhino' for some shopping before or after a lovely meal.
I have been hear several times, first in 2015, and many times in 2017-2018. The entrance way as well as the sign are pretty unassuming, but go on in and you'll be pleasantly surprised by an outdoor seating garden, with umbrellas. There is a covered seating area too, if the weather is unpleasant. Power outlets are conveniently interspersed throughout the seating areas, and the wi-fi is strong with a frequently changing password for guest protection. The food service is fairly rapid, especially compared to other dining areas in the area. Staff are pleasant, but not overly engaging. The clientele consists of a lot of Kenyans and the occasional wazungu (foreigner). There are two menus, and if you're a mzungu you will be presented with an eclectic menu of Indian, Chinese, American, and Cafe foods. There is a more traditional (and cheaper) Kenyan menu, which has quite a few offerings. The prices for both menus are not exorbitantly high, and seem relatively fair for what you get. I think this is the best place to spend a few hours working, or even having a semi-casual business meeting. Highly recommend. The only negative I have experienced is the ugali was not as finely milled as I like. Ndengu and Njahi are great; egg fried rice, chapati, and Palak Paneer were good; Githeri and the veggie burger are decent; fresh juice is very tasty; coffee is variable from average to good. Quite a few vegetarian options.

for me, this is the best restaurant/cafe in Nanyuki. The atmosphere is relaxing, the staff friendly and welcoming. Best of all the food is fresh and delicious. The Beef Fajitas are the best I've ever had. Cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough.

The shack cafe and bakery is a cafe in Nanyuki town direct opposite to Barclays Bank and next to Juttsons book shop. Very unique cafe as people has nicknamed it (The little Nanyuki Gem) It's beautifully done, very clean and has the cleanest toilet in town
Have eaten here a lot over the last 6 months. Always get looked after by Elizabeth and Nelly who are both awesome. They do a lot of lovely food and the specials are usually worth a try. My favorite is the chicken pitta. Always great portion sizes and the coffee is awesome! Has free WiFi and a lovely, chilled out vibe. Thank you :) Thanks Charlie,we hope to see you again.x

Outdoor setting.
I came to climb mt. Kenya (long bus ride from Nairobi) terribly hungry and exhausted and (thanks god) I discovered Carols "very clean"Cafe (off the busy road in a private alleyway)...Open late evening, tranquil-relaxed atmosphere w/Tasty homemade warm foods - including vegetarian! (I had the unforgettable fajitas/guacamole/salas and a fresh fantastic Green-salad - A rare find in Africa!). I was so impressed I came immediately back for breakfast the next day(pancakes and tea), packing 10 up to the mountain (for energy all day) and the guides were so happy I did... will come here only when in nanyuki! Thanks to all lady super friendly staff!Thank you for reviewing us.Most welcome again

I had been to this place before, and it just keeps getting better. The setting is beautiful, surrounded by trees and serenity. On the day I was there, they had a delicious steak with mushroom sauce that was to die for. I accompanied it with a very good house red wine. My friend had a chicken salad and he cleaned his plate. The service is great, and the owners are wonderful ladies who are very involved in the community.

Barneys Bar & Restaurant, Located at the Nanyuki Airfield. Welcome for great food and drinks. We are open every day from 7 in the morning to 6 in the evening
Stopped over for a Pizza here and even asked for a recommendation from the waiter who suggested the Napoli. The pizza was greatly over salted and when we complained they just said that that was how they make it. Not worth the trouble.Hi Natalie. First, thank you for visiting the Barneys Bar & Restaurant. Sorry you didn't like the Napoli Pizza. The strong taste you experienced is from the anchovies and unfortunately, that's how they taste due their curing process. Please pass by next time and try a different pizza from our menu. Thank you
