Find out what Cafe restaurants to try in Minneapolis. With its gleaming skyscrapers set amid glittering lakes, Minneapolis makes for an attractive and fun getaway. A truly year-round destination, the city offers activities for every season. In winter, one can explore the downtown area through more than seven miles of glass-enclosed skyways. In addition to keeping you warm, they create a lively thoroughfare filled with specialty shops, restaurants and services. Whether you want to escape the winter cold or the summer warmth, the Mall of America offers shopping, dining and entertainment options for any time of the year and every member of the family. Art lovers have plenty to see at the Minneapolis Art Institute, Walker Art Center and the Frederick R. Weisman Art Museum, which all house world-renowned collections. The theater scene is thriving. With more than thirty theaters, Minneapolis has more seats per capita than any U.S. city except New York. See a Broadway show and enjoy dinner and live jazz at a fabulous restaurant. With kids in tow, check out the Science Museum of Minnesota, where visitors can produce their own video, or come face to face with a shark at the UnderWater Adventures Aquarium. In summer, the action moves outside. Known as "The City of Lakes," Minneapolis has 22 lakes located within city limits and many more in the surrounding area. In town, hordes of locals and tourists in-line skate or stroll around Lake Calhoun, stopping for ice cream along the way. Just outside of town, Fort Snelling State Park offers outdoor recreational activities from hiking to biking and golf to boating. No matter when you visit, Minneapolis offers lots for everyone to enjoy.

Wasn't my choice for a birthday celebration and I felt sorry for the guest of honor. Absolutely nothing to make you feel special on your big day. Parking is a pain. The small lots are hard to navigate and street parking is difficult. Service was terrible and our server ignored us most if the evening and the wait time for a condiment request was ridiculous. The food for dinner was not great. I had the salmon and it was dry and overly salty. I wouldn't recommend a celebratory dinner here, there are so many other great options.

I once spent a summer in Copenhagen working at Herlev Hospital. Lunch was a real treat. The variety and beauty of the smørrebrød was amazing. Toppings like sliced hard boiled egg and radish, salmon, shrimp, ham, and the like, artfully arraigned on a piece of dense, moist rye bread (Rugbrôd) were delicious. I have been unable to find anything like this in Baton Rouge. I asked my daughter to find some in Minneapolis we could try where were there for Thanksgiving. She found FIKA, a restaurant in the American Swedish Institute. Indeed they had smørrebrød, called smorgåsar at the ASI. They were different from those in Denmark in that they were larger and served on a normal rye bread. I had a Smörgåsar with shrimp, saffron-lemon aioli, horseradish, dill, soft boiled egg, and lettuce on Danish rye. The rye base was about twice the size of the roggerbrood on the smørrbrød I would get for lunch in Denmark. But it was delicious. My wife had Juniper-spiced Swedish Meatballs served with puréed potatoes, cucumbers, lingonberries and a mustard sauce. My daughter had seared Kodiak Cod with creamed spinach, fennel, white beans, nutmeg, and toasted bread crumbs. We shared a cardamom bread pudding with cinnamon whipped cream and a brandy sauce for dessert. I couldn’t resist a glass of Aquavit Great lunch and a beautiful gift shop right next door.

We keep coming here for brunch and bringing our out-of-town visitors. Having 3-4 friends at the table means we get to see and try a number of items. The menu at Keys is pretty expansive and there's something for everyone. And yet...I have a hard time saying no to the Huevos Rancheros. As a regular item on the menu, that's my go-to order if the daily specials fail to catch my eye. Damn good food that fuels you for the full day!The service is always top notch, with a special shout-out to Liana for taking such great care of us. It's great to have such a gem so near to our home!

We stopped in for breakfast while visiting Minneapolis and loved this place! The menu had plenty of breakfast choices, the food was delicious, and our server was delightful. The decor was thrift store, throw back fabulous, and it was busy on a Tuesday morning mostly with regulars, which is always a good sign. We definitely recommend Hot Plate!
