Glenrothes ( listen (help·info); /ɡlɛnˈrɒθɪs/, glen-ROTH-iss; Scottish Gaelic: Gleann Ràthais) is a town situated in the heart of Fife, in east-central Scotland. It is located approximately 30 miles (48 km) from both Edinburgh, which lies to the south and Dundee to the north. The town had a population of 39,277 in 2011 as recorded by the census, making it the third largest settlement in Fife and the 18th most populous settlement in Scotland. The name Glenrothes comes from its historical link with the Earl of Rothes who owned much of the land upon which the new town has been built; "Glen" (Scottish for valley) was added to the name to avoid confusion with Rothes in Moray and in recognition that the town lies in a river valley. The motto of Glenrothes is "Ex terra vis", meaning "From the earth strength", which dates back to the founding of the town.

First of all the logistics with the ordering and paying is not great. It is not clear where to order and where to pay and which queues are which. I ordered a baked potato with cheese and asked what came with it, was told nothing. This is shocking considering the baked potato was nearly £5!!!! I fail to see how you could justify asking that price for a potato and cheese?? I understand profit margins but that is ridiculous. ( There wasn't even butter on the potato and the cheese was cheap and rubbery). Anyhoo I ordered a side of salad and side of coleslaw to go with this and these were both of very poor quality! The slaw was nippy and sour and the salad didn't even have a single piece of onion or cucumber in it, it was lettuce covered in sweetcorn for some bizarre reason. Sweetcorn? really?. Apparently the reason no sides are being served with the food any longer is because of the food waste the cafe had "masses of food waste" (Direct staff quote). I can answer your food waste problem easily..... Get better quality produce for the price you are charging! In total I paid a shocking £7 for a baked potato (With side salad - which should actually come with it) and bottle of water. £7 - You do realise that Fife is one of the poorest places in scotland? My Minimum wage is £7.70 - I had to work one whole hour to afford a potato, cheese and water! Really? Please have a look at things this is not right the produce is poor (hence the masses of food waste) and the prices too high! Thanks for taking the time to comment and i`m sorry your experience resulted in such a long negative view of the business. Whilst we used to serve salad with every dish this resulted in those customers who didn`t request it leaving it, though our member of staff hasn`t quite explained this clearly and has somewhat exaggerated the waste issue, though we do serve hundreds of hot items and meals daily so we felt there was no point serving items customers didn`t want. A baked potato with cheese is now £4.55 and side salad is £0.25. Hence a baked potato with side salad is now £4.80 which is more or less what it was before we restructured the pricing. An extra portion of coleslaw is £0.50. Our side salads yesterday should have included rocket, various lettuce leaves as well as the normal salad items (and sweetcorn which people generally seem to like). Our coleslaw is homemade and again, generally well received. A glass bottle of strathmore still or sparkling water is £1.25. I`m not sure what went wrong with your side orders but clearly something has and we would have rectified any complaint at the time if you had mentioned it to us.

This absolutely tiny coffee shop is tucked in amongst small units at the south side of the Glamis Centre and is well worth finding. There are only two tables in the cafe, but it does a roaring trade with takeaways. We were there for a late lunch and I had chicken chilli panini which was delicious. My wife and her mum both had afternoon tea. Their sandwiches were large and well filled with plenty of tea, cake and a scone. We were all well filled with our lunch and would recommend this wee place to anyone in the area as the food is good, the prices are reasonable and the service is first class. Thanks very much for your visit! Look forward to seeing you again soon âï¸

We are delighted to announce that The Art Cafe at Robertson Fine Art, Glenrothes is now one of the most popular destinations within the region to enjoy a spot of lunch or coffee and cakes. Whether you are in for Breakfast / Lunch or just a Coffee and Cake
This was our first visit here and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is at the rear of an art shop. It was very tastefully decorated. They had a lovely lunch menu but we settled for coffee and their delicious homemade scones. The service from the staff was excellent and very friendly. I would highly recommend and will be making a return visit
