Already wrote a rating for the Our Lady of Lourdes Cave, Scheveningen center. Did you know this particular location was the exact place where in ancient times the fisher women came together to pray for their men. That they could return unharmed from their fish catches in the North Sea. When the municipality wanted to remove this place, precisely these people, men and women from Scheveningen, protested successfully to keep the place. The RK church became a place for events and meetings, thought the Lourdes Cave it was retained for what it is intended for. I do come here for a very long time. And know that you can experience everything just around the corner, happy visit!

Close to the lighthouse you can find Hart Beach at the beach of Scheveningen. A unique and cosy location that has a lot to offer. Hart Beach is a surfschool, surfshop and a great hang out where you can grab a cup of coffee or their famous "whipe out burger". Hart Beach events offers spectacular water & beach activities for groups and companies. Come over and take a look yourself! We are open every day, year round!

The primary location of the museum foundation is an authentically decorated command bunker of type 608 (Battalions,- Departmental or regimentalCommand post). From this bunker and the nearby villas was by the occupying military command Stutzpunkgruppe Scheveningen lined. The bunker is mostly original furnishings and gives visitors the unique experience of a tangible past. There are also original historical objects of German, British, Canadian and American forces exhibited. In the adjacent personnel bunker type 622 (Doppelgruppenunterstand) Is a 'time capsule'; one of the two common rooms furnished with only unrestored objects. The visitor gets the impression that the bunker since the end of World War II has remained untouched. In reality, most looted bunkers in the Netherlands after the war and stripped of all valuable parts. The other lounge is an exhibition space for photographs, art and historical objects.

Museum Beelden aan Zee focuses exclusively on contemporary sculpture. The museum was founded in 1994 and now holds nearly one thousand sculptures and several hundreds of medals. This is the only Dutch museum which specializes in exhibiting sculpture. The collection holds work from sculptors as diverse as Armando, Stephan Balkenhol, Iris Le Rütte, Tony Cragg, Per Kirkeby, Giacomo Manzú, Kiki Smith, Igor Mitoraj, Jan Meefout , Berlinde De Bruyckere, Shinkichi Tajiri and Cornelis Zitman.
We visited the museum during the last weekend of the Niki de Saint Phalle exhibition. It is cheerful, colourful and very attractive to both adults and children. The main hall is filled with revolving circles on which sculptures rotate and the exhibition is well attended. Good atmosphere. In the south hall an exhibition of work by Klaas Gubbels can be seen covering his lifetime oeuvre.

In the completely renovated school building from 1877 one can learn about the history of the fishing village, the seaside resort and the fascinating forms of life which can be found beneath sea level. the centuries old tradition of the fishing industry as well as the seaside resort life form the image of Scheveningen. The permanent exhibit provides an overview of the fishing industry and daily life in years gone by. A unique collection of paintings, including several by Mesdag, provides a beautiful record of the past. The full size reconstruction (and moving) of the cabin of a fishing boat revives the life onboard. Period rooms show the different lifestyles of various classes: the fisher folk, the middle class and the well-to-do shipping cmpany owners. And, of course, the traditional costume of Scheveningen in on display. Special attention is given to the jewelry worn with the costume. If you like to stroll by the seaside, this is the place to be, lively, loads of beach restaurants, shops, bars, a shopping mall and even a casino. Loads of amusement for both adults and children, a Ferris wheel for awesome panoramic photos and excitement, in summer time thrilling bungee jump and slide along the pier, miles of beach front to enjoy both during summer (best time) and also in the winter.
