Also known as Baden bei Wien (Baden near Vienna), this spa town is chosen by those looking for a little bit of relaxation. The origin of the city goes back to the Romans who were the first to enjoy Baden’s sulphurous mineral springs. Later, Baden became a favorite of Austrian emperors who would come from Vienna (26 km) to enjoy a bath in hot waters. Today, visitors fall in love with the many historic buildings, monuments and picnic areas in beautiful parks around the city. Connoisseurs of classical music can follow in the footsteps of Baden’s most famous visitor, Ludwig van Beethoven, who visited Baden numerous times.

For music lovers a must-see stop. A simple apartment with a few artifacts from when he lived in the house. An over-the-top movie, sound track, follow along complete score and a chart of what instruments are playing when for the famous 9th Symphony. Take the time to sit though it – well worth every minute. Then visit the gift shop for a very large collection of Beethoven CDs recorded by many different artists. Plan for 2 hours tops.

The best park of baden, not that big but with a great amount of roses and enormous trees and a small lake with ducks. Relaxing and nicely made, even in winter it was nice so must be realy nice when all the roses are in bloom. Not crowded and well maintained.
