Impressive modern designed architecturally shaped Queen Elizabeth Quay Bridge with stunning modern views of the city architectural modern buildings. Beautiful night lights around the bridge & a pleasure to walk across with plenty of Cafe's & Restaurants close by & only minutes by foot from Elizabeth Railway Station.

This really had been a bonus for Perth. Apart from its majestic appearance on representing two swans it provides a wide and safe platform for people wanting to access Burswood from East Perth. The football fans use this en-masse on game days. I'm a regular user as this new bridge as it allows us to have casual walks around the bridges. We walk across the nearby railway bridge and Matagarup. This bridge can be lit up some nights and provides a fantastic sight.

The iconic Canning Bridge is made of Western Australian (WA) timber that is legendary for its hardiness -- jarrah, wandoo and the mighty karri. Jarrah is still in demand in the UK for its toughness. The bridge is still the main route between the capital of WA, Perth, and the port city of Femantle. There's been a wooden bridge on this site for almost 200 years. If you walk across the bridge you may notice the fishermen's planform, which is popular with anglers.

To appreciate the Narrows Bridge, you must go back over 60 years Before it was built, the inadequate Causeway was the only bridge over the Swan River, connecting the city's northern and southern suburbs. I can still remember the fully-laden Bell Bros sand trucks rumbling down the Canning HIghway. The Narrows Bridge has earned its place in the hearts of the people of Perth. I couldn't imagine Perth without the Narrows Bridge.

Getting onto Garden Island by the causeway is not easy. It helps if you have someone in the Navy to sponsor you. You can approach by boat. The naval base, officially HMAS Stirling, is the main base fror the Royal Australian Navy in the West of Australia. Garden Island is a nature reserve. If you do get there, watch out for Joe Blakes -- snakes.
