This afternoon my wife and I met friends we hadn’t seen for a while. We sat outside in the sun chatting, listening to the live music, sharing stories, tasting our host Denise’s latest recipe and drinking the award winning beer, and wine, and gin. I can’t think of a better Sunday afternoon.

This is my favourite haunt when I am in Belves. Often go for morning coffee and sometimes for meals and drinks in the evening. Today I had a quick beer and picked up five pizzas for the family. They were brilliant; perfect balance of crispy base, sauce, topping and cheese...

An Englishman is brewing great beer in Périgord. We emailed him via the Périgord Beers website and easily arranged a visit and tasting. He makes a really great range of beers - to suit both English beer drinkers and French tastes. In fact it was a Belgian who recommended it to us and they know beer! You can buy the beer there or in the village shop or at the restaurant at the lake - also worth a visit.
FAB is a local project that includes a brewery, recycled arts and crafts and two holiday homes (gîtes), offering hand made, local products with the smallest possible environmental impact. Get a brewery tour and taste our beers (free, by appointment only) and buy some to take away, and/or visit the upcycling workshop (stationery, jewellery, decorations...)
