My boyfriend and I just got back from a week's stay at this B&B for our anniversary. Upon arrival we were very warmly welcomed and given a tour of the B&B before being shown our gorgeous sea view room (we loved that we were put in the room Aphrodite, even if it was just a coincidence). Our week's stay at this B&B was really lovely. The breakfast was great, the views are stunning and the staff are amazing! (Special mentions to both the reception staff, and the breakfast waitress) but it's also important to note that the maids are awesome and the maintenance guy fixed our fan straight away when the thunderstorm stopped it from working. You can really tell that this B&B has a lot of care put into it with little touches. Definitely book this place for a lovely relaxing quiet stay that is not to far from Tropea. Some things to note: Purely our own mistake, but for anyone else that may miss this, if you are taking the train from Lamezia terme central, Parghelia station is closer to this B&B than Tropea station, so get off there. On that note, do not miss Parghelia, it is literally a hidden gem. It is the cutest most beautiful little town with the most lovely people and it is closer to the B&B than Tropea. It also has a fantastic pizza place that you HAVE to try for authentic pizza 'Ristorante pizzeria Miseria & Nobiltà' For beach, there is a private beach right on the B&Bs door step but it is pretty rocky and can be uncomfortable, so we would recommend either Tropea beach or Spiaggia Michelino which is a short walk from the hotel. Tropea itself is a gorgeous town but is a little further away from the B&B, you can walk it, but it is quite a walk and includes a incline of some pretty steep steps. But you can get a taxi from the B&B for 10 euros each way. Thank you so much for our stay and I am sure we will be back in the future. Sam and Kealey xx

NO INTERNET. RESTAURANT SUCKED. Was bad. Although it should be an apparthotel 'all included "light"' option. The receptionists didn't dominated english properly. Actually nearly noone did, not the recepcionist, not the restaurant, not the bar, the animation team did try... The appartament didn't have drinkable water. Actually it was only possible to get drinkable water without paying, in a filter on the swimming pool bar...not always open. Still any drink aside tap water or wine, you had to pay, didn't matter you had a AI, unless you trusted juices from not official marks that they served on glass from open bottles, you payed everything. They never replaced shampoo nor soap. Never. The room was outdated, and some forniture was falling appart. For the swimming pool you had to use a cap. It was mandatory. No exceptions. But full bearded guys, bald, with no cap was ok. About the internet, apparently it exists by the reception, where you can try to seat on some chairs, OUTSIDE, under the sun, and try to use the poor wifi connections, we tryed and never made it. As far as we knew, there was no connection in the appartments, at least for sure in our room. And the worst of all was the restaurant. The food was of really poor quality. Many times it was just pasta with tomato sauce, and pasta with something else and tomato sauce. Saw a "risotto" only twice in a week, and was disapointing. Very poor tasting. WORST OF ALL: it was very clear that they would adapt food from previous meals into the next meal like: salmon for dinner, lunch next day had this really big salmon salad! More than once the smell of the salad table proved the food wasn't good anymore! Many times there were cakes covered with creams, that were bad to eat because of the heat. The salad table was not refrigerated, and food went bad a lot. The breakfast was the same: the bread was always hard as a rock, the milk went bad and smelled because it was not refrigerated, yogurts did too. For fried foods, they were clearly low quality bought, like those you buy on supermarket, not for restaurant level, yet were the 'best' part of all.

We were so surprised that most of Southern Italy was virtually a ghost town the first week of April. The weather was ideal, 65-75 and sun. The tragedy here is that this lovely little B&B was not full up with a waiting list. We had the place mostly to ourselves! (As well as a number of great museums and restaurants.) Villa Sofia is the perfect basecamp for your adventures in Tropea and Pizzo. They don't make B&Bs any nicer than this one. We had a second floor room with large balcony. Very comfortable bed, TV, refrigerator, great bath and wonderful breakfast. The fresh orange juice and coffee in the mornings may have been one of the best features right after the smiles and warm hospitality from the staff. I had seen pictures online and had some misgivings. I thought the pictures of the rooms looked rather spartan. They actually feel quite warm. This 4 year old building has many nice details which give it a lot of warmth and charm with a modern twist. The rooms are not huge but there is a lot of storage space to unpack and settle in. The bathrooms are immaculate and beautiful. Lots of shelf space and 2 mirror areas. There is easy street parking around the building and several restaurants within easy walking. The town is a nice relief from the tangled streets of Tropea. Navigation in and out of the town can be tricky but you can't navigate anywhere in Italy without Siri. She will take you right to the door. Only complaint would be that there are no English television stations available. The wifi is good but not quite fast enough to watch television on the computer. In general, it is a stellar find and would be a bargain at twice the price. Get there before the hoards discover it.

Since Parghelia and Tropea were our third stop on the trip through Calabria and places where we planned to spend more time on the beach, we couldn’t have chosen better that Silvana’s accomodation! It is ideally located in the quiet little town of Parhelia (it can probably be more crowded during the peak season in the summer, in June it was perfect for a rest!), very close to couple of good restaurants which offer local food, and close to the two amazing beaches. Silvana is a great host, always willing to assist, very hospitable and pleasant. She prepared an excellent breakfast, both savoury and sweet. Everything is spotlessly cleaned daily and Silvana takes care about every detail. She gave us some excellent restaurant recommendations, as well. The room is spatious, clean, well equipped and very quiet during the night. The beautiful Tropea is just a couple of minutes drive or a half an hour walk (very pleasant), so there are plenty more oportunities for sightseeing, beach, diner... We had a great rest here and would definitely recommend it!

Excellent service. Service was by far the best thing about it. I booked my trip via Trip.com but before I booked I called them to ensure that they had access to the beach and that they would accept our small dog. They said no problem. So I then booked online with Trip.com and then emailed them to confirm that had made the booking. A few days passed and they never relied to my email. So I sent another email. A few more days passed and they never replied. so I waited a week, and still no reply. So I called them. I explained, in English, what the problem was, and they immediately understood. They then emailed me from an alternate email address, one other than the one on their website and other than the one linked to their Trip.com account. Luckily it was all good and they got all the emails in the end and it was all sorted. We rented the 2 bedroom apartment. The apartment was ok, a bit old and beds a bit hard and shower super tiny and nozzle not working so well, snd wifi didn’t reach to the room either, and AirCon only in 1 of 2 bedrooms, but despite all of that, the grounds and pool and garden and especially the amazing service from Michele and Sylvia were very good! Michele recommended several great restaurants via e-mail well in advance of our arrival and helped us make and change some bookings and advised us in ferry crossings snd more. He also confirmed that the nice beach was nearby and helped us reserve some umbrellas and chairs there. The beach was only 3 minutes away by car and parking was €6 and an umbrella and 2 chairs were €25. They didn’t have beach towels either at the beach or at the hotel, which was quite surprising as most hotels usually have that, but they recommended a place 5 minutes away for €12 for a decent beach towel. So it was really the service of Michele that made it so great. The breakfast was very good: nice fresh melons and plums in season and various juices, breads, yoghurts and meats and cheeses and brands and croissants. Breakfast price was €7.50 per adult, and half for children. And the grounds were amazing. The pool was incredible. We spent hours there in the late afternoon and it was perfect as we had the pool all to ourselves. And the grounds are huge and well maintained with tons of fresh fruit trees and grapes and more. I’d definitely return just for the service and grounds and pool.

We stayed 8 nights in a large, comfortable room with a spacious bath, king sized bed, and 2 sets of French doors. One set of doors open onto a spacious covered patio that overlooks a gorgeous garden and the other doors open onto a porch with a view of the Sea and Tropea. A multicourse breakfast was served on our patio every day but one when it rained. The table was laid with elegant linens and china usually before we woke up. The food was local, freshly prepared, and abundant. The "main course" was different every day. All delicious and served with with love by either the owner or his wife . The owner Alessandro is a natural born host, gardener, and chef. He is very knowledgeable of the area since he was born and raised there. And his restaurant suggestions on perfect. By the way the location is close to the village so dinner is a short walk away. There is lots to see and do in the area so we will reutrn soon.
