Stayed at this charming little cottage on 20th May with my partner for one night. It was the 2nd time we have stayed there, both times in the Chocolate Room, and I can honestly say it won't be the last. Mike is an excellent host and nothing was too much trouble. The room was clean and comfortable as was the private bathroom. Breakfast was continental style, freshly prepared by Mike and was plentiful. If you are looking for somewhere to stay on a trip to Knaresborough, look no further, this place won't disappoint.

Check in was ok, we arrived early and went back at 3pm. The room was outside in the yard. A family room priced at £155 which was overpriced. Very dated and needs tidying and decorating . A fair amount of issues in the room which demonstrated lack of attention and could be easily fixed. Heating pipes bubbled on evening and early morning and water was extremely hot. The location is good but the absolute saving grace was the delicious breakfast, even though you had to select a time and pre order it was fabulous.

As Knaresborough's premier pub, food and accommodation experience, The Mitre has four superbly appointed en-suite rooms available on a bed and breakfast basis. All have been furnished and equipped to the highest possible standard ensuring the most relaxing break possible!
Just returned today from a one night stay at The Mitre Inn and I can't praise it highly enough. The staff were friendly and very accommodating (the kitchen was about to close a little early as it had been more than usually busy - probably due to the fabulous weather we'd had and people were making the most of their day - but the young man who welcomed us (so sorry - didn't get his name) spoke to the kitchen staff and they fitted us in (the meal was gorgeous I might add). The rooms are incredibly nice - spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and the bathroom shower was one of the very best I've ever been to in a hotel. The toiletries and other little bathroom requirements that are provided are so nice and of good quality. The inn is so well situated as well, fairly quiet, at the bottom of Station Road overlooking the railway station. The breakfast was lovely - quality ingredients nicely cooked - and again the staff at breakfast were very friendly. The only fault (and after staying here - it wasn't as big a deal as I thought it would be) is that there is no dedicated parking for the inn. As I say though - not really a problem as I put the car on a car park less than a five minute walk away - and put four hours on it which took us into the next morning then before breakfast (I'm a very early riser) I moved it to one of the 'disc zone' spaces less than a hundred yards away. A word of warning though - don't park on the dedicated spaces reserved for the station users as you could get ticketed - but there a lots of signs in plain sight and the hotel does make you aware of it too. One more thing - the drinks are reasonably priced and they have a fantastic selection of beers and spirits. All in all - I would 100% recommend staying at the Mitre Inn - well worth every penny spent.

This accommodation is in an excellent location for the train station, town centre amenities, pubs, food places and the castle and riverside walks. Contactless check in and out (you get sent an entry code on the first day of stay) The directions sent were good - as without i imagine it'd be tricky to spot the entrance as it's tucked away. Steep metal stairs to the front door entrance and quite narrow stairs inside to the rooms - this was not a problem for us at all but if you have any mobility problems then this is probably not the place for you. (some reviews have said the steps should be changed ?? but I don't see how they could be - the steps are a snug fit in to the space available -- just don't go stay here if this would affect you) Once inside the building the rooms are easily identified, the doors have a yale fob access and we were impressed by the size of the room (room 5) Massive comfy bed, loads of wardrobe space with an iron and board and a safe inside, hairdryer, full size mirror and decent lighting, dining table and chairs and tea/coffee making with a full size kettle and full size cups - Bonus! (no milk in rooms so take your own) Bedside table with lamp and bedside plugs for charging phones etc. The room was clean and the bathroom same, very clean, towels provided. The ONLY criticism i have is the bathroom velux window doesn't have a blind or obscure glazing/film over - this window is overlooked by a higher building at the back - think its the police station and the windows up there were open during our stay so someone had clearly been in those windows in that building - I had to hang a towel up awkwardly as you would have been able to see right in to the shower. That said, it wouldn't put me off going again, I'd just hang the towel up again, it was excellent value and suited our needs perfectly. We travelled by train so unsure about the parking facilities.

Stayed in Knaresborough sun 18th July, went into pub, was greeted by a young guy who was working on his own all evening, we had never been in before, he was really friendly, excellent at his job, chatty and polite even asked us if we wanted any favorite music on, the pub is lovely, modern and clean will definitely return next time we visit Knaresborough,
