Thirteen of us boisterous (but sober) seniors dropped in for an early dinner (4:45) dinner on a recent Sunday afternoon. It appeared that one seasoned waitress was assisted by two recent hires and one "trainee". We all were our normal joking selves and much enjoyed teasing and responding to the wait staff and each other. I believe that two entree orders and one drink refill came incorrectly, but our bunch just passed stuff around and traded until everyone was content with what they had. The waitresses were a delight and really took good care of us. Our only disappointment was the ability of the cook and quality of the shrimp. Some dishes were obviously far overcooked (black, carbon-caked baby-back ribs- rubber-eraser-texture super thin, heavily battered shrimp- french fries that tasted like they were prepared in the same deep fryer as the seafood, and a replacement plate of shrimp that again were thin, heavily battered, and tough.) Fortunately, I and one other diner like charred baby-back ribs and after the servers brought us some extra honey BBQ sauce, we (all) cleaned the table. We and the servers had a perfectly pleasant experience (somewhat due to our positive, easy-going attitude). The place filled up and although we saw other order confusions with other customers, the overall experience in the restaurant area was great. I cannot say the same for the food on that particular day. We eat regularly at our home Applebee's and fortunately, the food quality and preparation are consistently far better than we experienced on this particular day.

I really want to like the Castle Rock & Roll Bar & Grill. The name is excellent, and the location and physical setup have great potential. It was disappointing to actually visit, though. No service to speak of, and the grub is not even that good for bar food. Definitely not a place you'd take your family. It would be fine as a place to stop for a quick beer, though you could drive less than 10 minutes and have your pick of several good bars in downtown Northfield.

This isn't a terrible place. We've been there several times for sandwiches and once recently for their Sunday breakfast omelet bar. That omelet bar is a smokin' deal! This is a bit of a younger crowd with a few older locals for flavor. I understand that they have some problems at times with not enough staff but I've never experienced it. Can't say I love the pizza but then we don't care for any of the local pizza places! Great drink specials, just need to know what you're looking for. Evenings would not be family time but afternoons and Sunday breakfast is.

Service extremely hit or miss. Usually you have to go to the bar to order, but once you've ordered, sometimes a wait staff will come to your table. The food is pretty limited. I agree with another reviewer who said the bread with the artichoke dip should be toasted. Its just a cheap Wonder bread textured baguette sliced up. Ordered nachos the other day, asked them to leave the beef off. You'd think they would take a buck off, at least , for not having the meat on it. Nope. The inside of the place is outdated. This place is extremely popular during the temperate months as its one of only a couple places in town where you can sit outside and view the river (and the parking lot). Now that there are breweries opening in town, seems their beer prices went down a buck. This is the standard case of a place that could be really excellent but has never had competition. Maybe with more choices now in Northfield, they will rise to the occasion and step up their game.

We came here in September and had a really good meal. Came back in October for my boyfriends birthday, and to say the meal was poor would be an understatement. Both of our burger patties were so shriveled up and way over cooked. I ordered the patty melt and it was toast and the cheese wasnât even slightly melted. And they were out of coke?! Worst meal Iâve had out, possibly ever. And to make it worse, I emailed the restaurant privately about our experience and never even received a response. Hello CherylI'm very sincerely sorry you had a unpleasant visit your second time with us. It's been a very long time since we've had a review like this. As we are in the service and hospitality industry, we are accountable for your experience. We have won several awards for our food and our establishment and take that very serious. We hope you will be willing to come back and give us another try. Not sure whete the break down was in our team this visit but we would love another chance to change your mind. As far as the private message, I'm the one who usually receives and will usually immediately respond to each one. I honestly don't remember a message from you. But if I missed it, I truly and personally apologize. We as the Froggy family hope we can try to rectify our position with you and your boyfriend again sometime. Sincerely, Laurie and the Froggy Family

We came in during the afternoon and sampled the beers. They were good, but there were only a few selections and all rather heavy.Since we were staying across the street and got back late and this place was open until 11, we came back for dinner. The general opinion among our group of 10 was the food was average or below. Even the burgers werenât very tasty. The staff is great and very accommodating. They just need to dial up the food.

Fielder's Choice is a relatively new addition to the Northfield food scene. It offers a fun atmosphere and good food. We like to share their generous wedge salad and a flatbread. There I a full service bar and a separate dining area. The menu offers soups, salads, sandwiches and flatbreads
