I wish I liked this place more because the staff was excellent and the ambiance was amazing. I ordered the ceasar salad with chicken and a side of fries. I must say the fries were amazing (better than what I had in Belgium who claims to have invented them). The menu claimed that the salad was romaine lettuce, but I got iceberg. The chicken was not real, but rather seemed to be strips of thickly sliced cold cuts. Overall, nicely presented with a painted splash of balsamic on the bowl, but the flavor was not there. If I'm in town again I would try this place again but try something different.Thank you for your comments, however I would like to make a correction, although not understanding all the subtilities of the English language, it seems to me that your opinion on our chicken is not accurate. Indeed, our chicken is real, it is fresh chicken that we bread ourselves. We only cook fresh products. We will welcome you with pleasure on your next visit to Dunkirk and the flavor of our dishes will confirm my words.

The Malouin is a lovely place, located in the front of Dunkirk beach. Open every day from 9h30 to 20h00, and the week-end 9h30-23h00 non stop. Taste our local meal (Carbonade Flamande, Welsh, burger, Mussels for the lunch time every day and plus dinner th
We dropped in here after a walk along the beach and promenade. The waiter was very helpful as we required gluten free for our daughter as she has coeliac. They were happy to oblige and double checked everything before we ordered.Lovely mussels and frites, steak hache for my daughter and Flemish stew for my hubby.

Three nights in Dunkirk - looking to eat & drink about 7:30pm - lots of closed up establishments - but not this one.Warm, welcoming and friendly ambience, good food at a fair price, good beers to boot!No hesitation in recommending any traveller to spend an evening in this "proper pub" French style of course.

I was in a group of four that visited here last Sunday, 26th. We came to Dunkirk to see the war museum and were disappointed to find it was closed until next April. We decided to find somewhere local for some refreshments whilst we planned our next move. This place is set in the centre of town next to an impressive church.Inside was busy but we got a good table near the window. Tea and coffee orders were taken by a delightful and helpful young waitress, we also decided to indulge ourselves in rum babas and crepe suzette, which turned out to be delicious especially when steeped in the jugs of rum and brandy provided.Overall, a lovely, memorable visit with excellent service. Highly recommended.

The Le Dunkerquois burger was totally delicious as was the cheese and bacon sauce. Great value. Burger, fries and a drink for 10 euros and not long to wait either. We will be back next month for sure.

Very good food and always consistent - plate of the day always different and if you wish for something a little different from the menu = generally accommodated, really good and very friendly landlord and land lady - (also the head chef), laid back Aabiance, great and varied background music, very good and very friendly service (and for the non French speakers - the landlord speaks good English). Plenty of character and highly recommended. Karaoke nights and special music nights always a good time to be had by all. Big screen TV shows sports events when taking place.
