A new modern restaurant in downtown Salem with French/European influences, boasting fresh local ingredients in both the cuisine and cocktails.
Ended up at Bistro to avoid an hour wait at other restaurants. A bit worried because no problem getting a table! Menu was basic Chinese/Japanese fare, but actually quite good. The atmosphere, however, is a turn-off..stark, uninviting. Wait-staff efficient, but cold. Prices fair.

We had a busy day walking round Salem and had worked up quite an appetite. As we had to catch a train, we couldn't afford to linger. Bonchon was just the job - great korea food (bibimbap for me!!) - good portions, and served quickly with draft local beer!

Recently, I went for lunch at Fantasy Island. I've always found the food to be very good, and this restaurant has a very loyal following. Recently, the restaurant was taken over by the owners of Yan's Bistro in Swampscott. The previous owners are still there during the transition. The menu has been tweaked a little, and the food was excellent. The service is always excellent and friendly. The restaurant is large, and you can get food to go, too.The lunch menu is very extensive and a good value. There is ample parking. Give it a try, and support the new owners while you're at it.

I got a postcard coupon for Okea, which Would normally make me suspicious of the quality of the food. However, thanks to reviews on this site I gave Okea a try. Thank god I did! Best Asian food I've had since moving to Massachusetts. My advice is to keep going until you have tried everything. I know I will!

Koto is my favorite restaurant around Salem. They are always very pleasant and we have definitely made friends with the staff there. I love how the sushi menu is always changing. The drinks are amazing and the soup is out of this world. The only drawback is the Bathroom. If the bathroom was gutted and refurnished with better walls, and lighting it would look 100% better. I'm kind of a big stickler on bathrooms when I dine out. But if you are ever in Salem, please visit Koto. You won't be disappointed!!.

The first thing you notice here is the funky decorâparasols hanging from the ceiling, giant murals, industrial look, but with trees... The menu is similarly playfulâoctopus hot dog, Colonel Sanders fried chicken noodle bowl, even Faux Pho. The poke rice bowl was very goodâwell-seasoned and the tuna was quite tender.

As an Asian, I was thrilled to stumble upon this restaurant. Ordered Tom Yum soup and Thai basil chicken rice. They were ok. However, I wanted some small chilies to make the food spicier but there werenât any. The Thai basil chicken was tasty. The soup slightly too salty.

When travelling, especially for extended periods, for are looking for something a little lighter on the digestion, if you know what I mean.Well the New England Soup Factory in Salem is perfect. It offers a range of lunch items but the house specialty is its award winning soups. And they are wonderful! I had the clam chowder with corn and my companion had the chicken and vegetable with noodles - both were excellent. The young lady serving was extremely courteous and helpful and more than willing to offer tastings of the various goods to first timers. It was a wonderful, light but tasty lunch. We highly recommend this property.
