We visited Pagudpud after over 10 years but what a negative surprise as the once nice blue lagoon has been turned into a rococo and baroque style mixed with concrete amidst huge statue of liberty, dinosaurs and hundreds of bad taste characters which have no place in this exotic beach! The resort is visited by local residents only with lots of garbage littered around, empty bottles of Red Horse and Tanduay all over the beach! lots of dogs roaming around. Not a tourist friendly place. As we were there we had lunch in Hannah's restaurant which seem to be the better one around. Everything was average to below average: service, food, taste. As in most local restaurant, they seem to be out of stock of local produce like mango, coconut, fish and seafood! Only meat and vegetable available! No fresh pineapple either. But you can get imported apples! Ironic. This is our last visit to Pagudpud. RIP Pagudpud, courtesy of bad zoning, bad planning and no care from local government. What a waste of a once a beautiful beach with great tourism potential.

We were actually billeted in a different resort a few hundred meters away but found ourselves making a beeline to Evangeline's for dinner due to its very inviting ambience. While our original intention was dinner, we stayed for drinks due to their creative take on their cocktails. First, the food. It was very good! Not only was it flavorful, but they were presented well: orchids, parsley, cut vegetables served alongside the main dish. Its these small things that provide a fresh approach to service. I ordered the eggplant omelet and it was a good enough for 3, cooked just right without the oily aftertaste. The drinks, as mentioned were refreshing and innovative. We were introduced to a gin-based cocktail with shredded, young coconut. On paper, it sounds weird but trust me, it was very good. Again, this was served in a carafe with flowers and coconut stem for stirring. We enjoyed our meal here so much that no one argued where our breakfast would be the following day. While it was the usual Filipino fried rice meals, it was made memorable because of the new ways they approach their menu: rolled herb omelet served with longganisa, for one.

I only had one meal at Tartarugas Hotel. This consisted of Yang Chow Rice and Coconut Prawns. Nothing special. Staff are lovely and super friendly but go to Bergblick's Restaurant a 5 minute drive down the road. It has absolutely sensational meals and I wish I had all my meals there.

We had lunch here and really enjoyed it. Relaxed atmosphere (no-one rushing you to order, or to move on), and little cabins/cottages right by the beach. The food was excellent - the brocolli and fish dishes were particularly tasty. Not expensive either. And of course, the beach is AMAZING - you can take a long walk on it after lunch to burn off some of the calories! Recommended

We ordered the seafood platter serving 2-4 persons according to menu. We left the restaurant still hungry, the platter could have satisfied just my appetite. And 1400 pesos in the Philippines for such small stuff (1 microlobster 150 grams maximum, 6 shrimps, 2 small crabs with nothing in it, 1 small squid and a slice of tuna) in a location not among the expensive ones are really too much. Pity because the food was well cooked. We booked the dinner in advance and it was ready quickly.

Since its far from from the other resorts around.. this brings peaceful environment. A small pool to dip or straight to the beach. Snorkeling gears also available. There is also an acoustic bar at night. Staff are so nice. I had a great time to relax. Ps. Not hot shower.

The meal should be dinner - but with the view - go for a larger lunch. The tomato soup is excellent, as is the schnitzel (Jaeger schnitzel not quite as good). Catch of the day is also excellent, and the chicken curry with pineapple is not bad. The herbs (tarragon, dill, basil, and oregano are so very fresh). Care is taken with presentation and the restaurant itself is nicely done up - with a clear Bavarian link. The bathroom is lovely - and the walk to it as well, over a little stream. A sunny day, a mountain, rice paddies, and a lovely place to eat well. Dinner is good too - just it becomes a little less charming in the night light and without the view.
