This Chinese restaurant has become our favorite, even though we really like Hunan Gardens across the street. But this one is something else. The quality of the food is way superior. I haven't ordered from the American menu, but the Chinese traditional menu contains excellent dishes. I am not a meat eater, so I haven't tried the more traditional choices such as squirrel fish or frog, but the vegetarian choices have been delicious. We have been ordering cucumber and garlic salad as an appetizer, which is absolutely delicious. Yesterday we ordered bok choi with black mushroom, which is a spectacular dish, along with eggplant, also delicious and superior than the one in Hunan Gardens. My boyfriend's son ordered orange chicken and they commented that it contain real orange. The egg drop soup is also really good. The prices are unbeatable. We told the owner that we will continue coming back. And for lunch they offer a buffet at $6.99. If you want authentic Chinese food, this is your place to go.

I have gone to this little restaurant a few times already and this is the best option so far for Southeast Asian food in town. That is, if you feel like Thai food, go to this Indonesian restaurant. It won't disappoint you in any way: it's cheap, non-pretentious and the food is delicious. Definitely worth a try.

Went to Kyoto for lunch for the second time and my first impressions were confirmed - they have the best lunch deals in Kalamazoo. Once you walk into Kyoto from the relatively unattractive strip mall in which the restaurant is located, you are greeted with a very attractive dining area broken up into sections: the hibachi grill area, the dining room with tables and a counter in front of the sushi prep area (there is also a bar area in front of the restaurant with TV's). The menu has a good variety of choices. Many of the lunch menu items are under $10. I have had the teriyaki and tempura Lunch Bento Boxes and the amount (and quality) of the food is surprising. Along with the chicken, shrimp or beef, you get Miso soup, salad, four pieces of California roll, three fried shrimp and a large portion of steamed rice. The restaurant also has cocktails and a limited beer and wine selection). In addition to the lunch specials, there are also a wide variety of sushi rolls, Udon noodle dishes and many other menu choices. Overall, food and service were very good and the atmosphere was pleasant. I feel that this is a great place to get very good food at a reasonable price.

We arrived at lunch and were worried there might not be enough space. When we walked in it was clear that wouldn't be an issue, the place is massive! The service was good, plates cleared quickly and drinks kept full. The food is typical Americanized Chinese fare. Not spectacular, but certainly tasty. For those with picky children it might be useful to know that they also serve things like chicken wings and pizza, although it didn't look particularly appetizing to me.

Located in the old train depot alongside HopCat, this space provides guests with modern décor and a twist on Japanese cuisine that features creative sushi rolls, Japanese sharing plates, omakase (chef platters) as well as craft cocktails utilizing Asian i
Japanese restaurant of the same name in other cities. Possibly a chain? Waited for friends for 15 minutes and were offered yellow fin tail to try. Very good, indeed. Fresh fish 7 fish salad was excellent. Fried rice and grilled shrimp cold when served. Ordered medium rare rib eye but was served medium well done instead. Ordered white rice but was served fried rice. May come back and give them a second chance, otherwise too expensive sushi place. Good try for this area.

A friend and I stopped for lunch. The hostess seated us and gave us both menus and daily special listing. The server promptly stopped by with water and to answer any questions. We placed our orders. The steamy hot soup arrived moments later. It was a delicious hot & sour. Main dishes were very prompt. So prompt, in fact that we had not finished our soup. Upon request, mine was removed to the kitchen to stay hot. ( it was still quite hot when I was ready.)Chop sticks are available on request. Just so you know, there is a 10% on the entire ticket if paid in cash. There is a sign at the check out which we did not see when handing over our credit cards at the table. Prices are great. Service was excellent.

Have eaten in and have had take out. Both are good. However, lately the chicken entrees seem to be lest "chickeny", if you will, and the chicken chow mien is not as good as it used to be, it seems. Flavor could be enhanced. Still it's nice to have it close to us. We just hope they will concentrate on truly "meaty" inclusions in their entrees. They have a good reputation and it shouldn't be spoiled.

I have eaten here many times. The food is always good and very inexpensive for the quality of food served lunch or dinner.
