An outstanding collection of Native American baskets is one of the highlights of this Willamette University museum, which specializes in art of the Pacific Northwest and also features European and Asian art.
There was a special exhibit when we toured and it was fascinating. The permanent exhibits also are fine and well worth your time.

It's unbelievable what you can find at this museum on the University of Oregon campus. It's like a set of samples from top-notch museums all over the world. You can bump into an extensive Asian collection, Renaissance art, classic 20th century photography, avant-garde latin-american artists, and constantly changing high-end exhibits: statues by Ai Weiwei, a Botticelli, a Picasso, a Van Gogh, with several deep and wonderfully curated exhibits. Really more than you can see in a day. And a nice café!

We spent “Date Night” here and what a great time as it’s over 21 only. The woman working was extremely accommodating and very nice. This activity is one where you can paint ANYTHING including EACH OTHER . Wear something you don’t mind getting lots of paint on as it’ll be messy. You can paint the walls, ceilings, floor, etc. ANYTHING .You are given a canvass that’s a decent size (and you can get a larger size for a bit more money). You paint the canvas while tossing paint wherever you’d like. My wife and I had a great time splattering paint on each other. You get a certain amount of paint to work with although you can purchase additional paint as well. We ended up getting more paint since it was such fun. For instance, you can paint your hand and jump to see how high on the wall you can put a hand print or paint a heart on your significant other’s back! Call ahead for hours and to make reservations. We made reservations for a two hour block and spent every minute of it as well as purchasing additional paint. Parking is on the street and is easy. When we arrived everything was explained to us. We were given our canvass, paint and painting supplies (brushes, cups, paint squirt guns, etc). I mean who couldn’t have fun with a paint filled squirt gun?? The space in Albany is about 2,000 sq ft and you can paint anyplace. The paint glows under a black light and so when you are covered you glow . The woman working was more than happy to use our camera to snap photos of us for memories. They play rock ‘n roll music while you visit and all you have to do is go and have fun. The web site explains it all. The paint is egg based so it showers off easily afterwards with minimal scrubbing. You are given a free plastic poncho for the ride home so you get minimal paint on things afterward. We did the “Date Night” package although I can see where children would have a blast getting paint everywhere (including on adults). There is a small art gallery on the first floor along with a wine bar (neither of us drink so I can’t speak to this). If you are looking for something out of the ordinary to do with your significant other this one is a lot of fun and out of the ordinary. If you want something to do with the kids show up for family time they’ll be happy and tire afterward.
A 10,000 sqft art gallery representing works by artists with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
