Things to do in Tarija
Closed on advertised open day.Unreliable wasted time.Called and received no reason or much care, just a "we decided not to open this evening"Two taxis and 30 minute rides later!
This restaurant is fairly new, and they nailed it. This is one of the best Parillas in Bolivia. The restaurant is charming inside. It is very clean and welcoming. The staff is professional and helpful. We were really impressed with the salad bar, which is full of local ingredients, as well as creative salads. The meats were cooked perfectly and the French fries were hot and fresh. The owner of this restaurant clearly has a great vision on what it entails to be successful.
Cavas de Altura is a Wine Shop located in downtown Tarija, Bolivia. its location and wonderful accommodation makes Cavas de Altura a great place to experience the culture and tradition of Tarija. You can also enjoy delicious traditional dishes, steak, sal
When I am travelling it is not often that I return to a restaurant, (however good) as time does not allow. However Cavas de Altura served superior steak, much much better than the up market restaurant in a close by square. Great selection of wine, and that is what I love about eating out in Bolivia. Sadly Bolivian wines are not available in UK, but I am working on that! In the mean time their steak here is First Class.
El lugar es muy bonito, la gente que maneja el lugar es muy amable en el trato, la comida es excelente. La comida no es cara y se esmera bastante por que te sientas bien tratado. Me encanto eso que a media comida te pregunten si todo esta bien.

Food: On a good day, it is the best steak/beef in Bolivia, on a bad day, your meat will taste like lemon, added to cover up other things.Service: Usually bad.Is it worth it? If you consider yourself lucky, yes, because you might have a taste of splendid meat, and like I said, if it is a good day, this overcomes the bad service.About the pricing: Yes they do charge you if you go to the salad bar, even if it is just for peas, I do not consider it cheating, but they should tell you in advance (they do not). When you ask for the bill, ask for it "detallada" or broken down.
Most Popular Steakhouse food in Tarija, Tarija Department, Bolivia
Its located on a hill across the street from a colonial church. The restaurante is in a colonial house. Very small and cozy wine cellar. It has a back yard with an amazing view. The food is awesome, I would suggest the picanha (top sirloin), and is one of the few places in the region where they will cook it as you please. Could have a bigger variety of cocktails, but regarding wines there are several varieties and brands both local and imported to Bolivia. I definitely recommend to visit when you are in Tarija or passing near by.

New restaurant (2009), very good food, certainly for Boilivian standards!
A place specialized in steak, one of the best ones in Tarija, the meat was thick and evenly cooked keeping the color of the meat, the taste was wonderful and the meat was tender. They offer a salad bar with 8 different options for salads and they also have rice and some potatoes. Definitely a place to try in Tarija if you love to eat meat.
