This baroque style church is very lavish inside, reflecting a period in which religious orders competed with each other to build the richest church.
History, art combined in a beautiful church. I recommend you get a good guide to see all there is to enjoy at this church. Optical Illusions and stunning historical religious artifacts are available to view. I totally recommend visiting it

This really amazing church is more like an opera house inside, the way the curved balconies are arranged. It costs BR10.00 to visit and is only open in the afternoons. The ticket office is actually a few doors down from the church itself. There's no photography allowed at all, but you can take a tour with a Portuguese speaking guide. In the basement is a lovely gallery of antiquities including some astonishing gold and silver. Not to be missed.
