For more than 65 years Denny's has been bringing people together over great food. It's the place where people can relax and be themselves; where they can enjoy classic American comfort food and everyday value. 24 hours a day. 365 days a year. Here, you ca
Ate there yesterday for breakfast. Horrible...never again. The hostess DEZ - her name tag says DEZ - don't forget it & turn around & leave. Not busy, no one in line to eat, there was a line to pay & no one around. Dez finally shows up & asks us to wait till she takes the money from the others..no problem. We asked for a booth - there were dozens all over. She said we couldn't have a booth but she had a half table & bench. There were empty booths all around us. The family of 3 next to us heard us asking about a booth & after Dez left they said this is what they gave us - a huge corner round table for 2 adults & 1 teen. They also had asked for a booth. When our server arrived we asked if we could move to a booth - "certainly" she said with kindness. So I grabbed our eating utensils and mugs and we headed to the booth. Our waitress was kind & attentive although her entire set of clothes were just filthy. I understand they work with food but take a minute & scrape off the chunks. The food was so-so and she charged us for 2 coffees when only my husband had coffee. She changed it politely. Now more of Dez. We had to pay our bill. Oh the server got a 25% tip. Dez said nothing - NOTHING like how was your meal etc....she glared at me and said NOTHING! I said your welcome and we left!!!!!!!! never to return.

Everyone may not know your name, but our friendly staff will treat you like it. We serve breakfast, lunch and dinner daily. With morning, afternoon & nightly specials. We have the largest selection of Specialty and Craft beers in town.
We had dinner here the Friday night of CranFest. And the place was hopping! Excellent selection of beers. Loved the fact that with their fish fry you can choose fried or broiled fish. That's a rarity. And it was really good. Even though the place was packed, the service was great, and the food came out very quickly. The people next to us had burgers, and they looked delicious as well. People kept arriving and others leaving, and the food was coming out non-stop. We could see a couple of people working behind a counter in the back. When we asked our server if that in fact was the entire kitchen, he said yes. Amazing. Thanks for taking the time out of your schedule to leave us this review, MNKathy_12! We will definitely be passing your compliments on to our staff. We are so glad you dined with us, and it will be our pleasure to serve you again soon so you can try more items on our menu and let us know your thoughts.

The Ground Round Grill & Bar, with its two-room concept, provides an atmosphere and menu that is inviting to families and fun for adults too. We offer a substantial broad-based menu with a high quality/good value relationship for our guests. In addition w
We stopped on Wednesday evening on our way to Minneapolis. The waitress seemed rushed. Our food was average. We ordered sliders, unmasked burrito and a steak. It took fairly long to get our food. The waitress never came back after we got our food. Overall nothing that would make me want to stop again.

Two of us had dinner here on a Tuesday evening overnight stay in Tomah. As other reviews say, it's very much a local bar/restaurant located a few miles from the interstate. Definitely not a walking distance from anywhere. It is a big, open room with bar/pool table/games in one half and table seating in the other. It's basically a finished pole barn. So, if you're looking for fine dining ambiance or quiet meal, this probably isn't the place for you. Anyone who has lived in or grew up in a small, rural town will walk in here and feel right back at home. If, on the other hand, you're looking for somewhere that easy to sit down, have a beer (or more) and maybe a decent lunch or dinner in the same place where many of the local residents pick, you should go here. They had a really decent selection of beer on tap (including a couple of Wisconsin-locals) as well as an OK list of cheap wines (the ones you expect, Sutter Home, Barefoot, etc...). Prices were very good - wine was $3.50 and 28oz beer was $7 (for the high-end beer). Menu was pretty typical of Wisconsin bar. Cheese curds, sausage options, and plenty of fried appetizer things. They also had pizzas, various steaks and a couple of fish options as regular menu items. Salad bar is part of the operation - although it is a pretty simple/limited one. They're apparently known for some of their soups, but those are only offered Thursday-Sunday, so no experience there. Our night was the 8oz sirloin, potato, salad bar special for $9. That's what we both picked and with some admittedly low expectations based on the price. We were both very pleasantly surprised. The sirloin was a nice cut - not the 30% non-edible, gristle and sinew version you usually get with these specials in most places. And both were cooked right to our medium-rare request. Baked potato and salad bar were part of the meal as well. They weren't particularly busy, so can't say what the service is like on big nights (like fish fry and prime rib nights later the in the week), but for us, everything was great. Waitress was attentive, quick and very friendly. And food came out very soon after our order went it. We don't go through this part of the Wisconsin often, but if we're ever in range of Tomah again, we'd stop at Smitty's without a second of hesitation.

The menu contained mushrooms in almost every entree. The menu and website shouted "For Goodness, Steak!" yet there were no cut steaks offered. The menu had Steak tips and Cheese skillet, steak tips and peppers skillet, and other combination dishes, but no straightforward NY strip, T-bone, filet mignon, rib-eye, or porterhouse steaks. Breakfast entrees were similarly overcomplicated (e.g., The Healthy Harvest was an egg white omelet with turkey sausage, onions, squash, zucchini, bell peppers, mushrooms, spinach and Feta) We could order two eggs scrambled with bacon and hash browns but it was not on menu. Generous drink refill and senior citizen discount policies.
