Unwind and enjoy the sights, sounds and fun activities of a true river safari experience.
The lodge was good, but we had booked to leave Durban on a Monday. Just before 6 AM, shortly before we had to leave for the airport my wife received an email (not even a phone call) to say the flight was cancelled. We could easily have missed the email, & gone to the airport, & flown to Johannesburg to find our flight to Kasane was cancelled, & then found ourselves stuck in Johannesburg with nowhere to stay. We were advised by the consultant with whom we booked, Lynne van Wyk that we could travel the next day, & we would be refunded for the day that we had missed. What she did not tell us is that something like 4 of the preceding 5 Monday flights had been cancelled. If she had told us this, we would have left on a different day of the week. We have now been back over 6 weeks & still no refund. My wife & I, as well as the friends with whom we travelled have all contacted Lynne van Wyk who told us the refunds had been deposited into our accounts, but when we checked, there had been no refund. As much as the trip was good, it was not cheap, & it has been spoiled by this experience.

Chobe Water Villas, an exclusive and intimate "boutique" Lodge is located in Namibia at the eastern tip of the famous Caprivi Strip now known as the Zambezi Region. The Lodge is exclusively situated in the 150 km2 Namibian Kasika Conservancy directly on the banks of the Chobe River and opposite the renowned Chobe National Park and the safari town of Kasane, in Botswana.
Chobe Water Villas is a place with a particular charm. Being located on the banks of the Chobe River, the villas are located on the same river and the transfers are therefore by boat, whose experience is amazing. When you arrive at the gates of Chobe Water Village, you already realize the level and how spectacular its rooms are on the river. The rooms are impressive, overlooking the river and with the latest technology. The villas are designed for guests to rest and enjoy, and also have a terrace where you can relax and watch the sunrise or sunset with a drink. Once again, I am personally surprised by the restaurant's haute cuisine. There is only a pre-established menu for breakfast, and at lunch and dinner the Chef innovates. Nothing to envy to any category restaurant in Madrid! In our particular case we were attended by Thomas, Corina and Heikii. They are exceptional people, who apart from helping you in every possible way, accompany you on safaris and make your days much better. I would like to personally thank them all. I definitely recommend it and I will repeat.

The closest luxury camp to the remarkable Sossusvlei dunes, Little Kulala's exquisite fittings, pastel tones and use of natural light merge into the timeless desert landscape. Aside from excursions to the dunes, the unadorned beauty of the Namib is explored via game drives and walks on Kulala Wilderness Reserve, providing sightings of desertadapted wildlife and plants, from ungainly ostrich to charismatic bat-eared fox. Scenic sundowners take in awe-inspiring views that stretch endlessly to a distant horizon, while a "star-bed" offers slumber under some of Africa's clearest skies. • 11 rooms (1 family) • nature drives and walks • Sossusvlei excursion (via private gate) • Sesriem visit • sleep out deck • quad biking • massage treatments • hot air balloon
This lodge was my first introduction to Namibia and I instantly loved it. From the moment you arrive you’re treated as both honoured guests and friends - a winning combination. The accommodation was luxurious, the staff exceptionally helpful and the desert surroundings mind- blowing. We had a great guide and managed to see lots of wonderful wildlife on our daily safaris and to top of each day we got into the “sundowner” routine - gin and tonics (or whatever is your favourite tipple) - on top of a hill watching amazing sunsets before dinner. I cannot describe effectively just how wonderful this experience was. I hope I will be there again.

Rugged, iconic, startlingly life-filled Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is scenically located in a broad valley at the confluence of two tributaries of the Hoanib River in the northern part of the private Palmwag Concession. Its location thus straddles the Palmwag area and the iconic Skeleton Coast National Park, in one of the most remote areas of the Kaokoveld. Exclusivity is taken a step further as camp is only accessible by light aircraft and the camp itself consists of only seven twin-bedded tents and one family unit, each comprising stylish en-suite bedrooms with shaded outdoors decks. Flanked to the east and west by rugged hills, the camp looks out over stunning, starkly beautiful scenery and offers guests all the luxuries and amenities for an unforgettable stay.
This was our second camp in our first ever trip to Namibia. I can't say enough good things about this camp and our guide, Ben. The accommodations are very nice and clean. All of the camp workers are very nice and helpful. The food is wonderful. It seems they are always feeding you something, what with 3 meals and "tea" and sundowners out in the bush. Our twice daily game drives were exciting and fruitful. We had excellent lion and elephant experiences with the animals approaching quite close to us as times.Animals seen included lions, elephants, springbok, zebras, giraffe, Oryx, and steenbok I really enjoyed the early morning drive to look for little tracks in the morning sand, like the barking gecko and the other small creatures. One day we and our guide flew to the coast where we saw shipwrecks and watched the cape seals along one section of the 14,000+ seal colony. Ben set up tables on the beach and produced a very nice lunch for us. Back at camp we witnessed various animals coming thru the camp, baboons, springbok and a lion once. It was definitely a fantastic adventure.

After an exhilarating nature experience, enjoy the space and comfort of our luxury suites. Guests can spot various game species on their way to one of two watering holes within the Old Traders Camp.
We stayed at Erindi, celebrating our 30th wedding-anniversary. Erindi exceeded all our expectations. When we arrived Ben was there to assist with all the luggage. We were on a 3 week tour of the north which explained the luggage overload. The room was everything and more as advertised on their website. We stayed in a superior room overlooking the river. We sat on our porch and watched hippos right in front of us. No binoculars needed. Thanks to Bianca’s professional service at the restaurant. The food at dinner and breakfast was outstanding. The service from Erindi’s well trained and friendly staff is something we really enjoyed. The restaurant is situated perfectly overlooking a huge waterhole. Whilst having a great dinner we saw Giraffe , Oryx , Lion , Leopard , Hippo , Elephants , Rhinos , Blouwildebeest etc. Just an unbelievable experience! Having had the privilege of staying at various 5 star resorts throughout South Africa and Namibia , we can state without fear of retribution that this is the best value for money that you can get . We will definitely be back to visit Erindi , this time staying for 3 nights at least.

Little Ongava is perched on the crest of a hill commanding magnificent vistas of the plains beyond. Arguably Namibia's most civilised and certainly most comfortable accommodation, Little Ongava offers an extraordinary experience as the focal point of an Etosha journey. This intimate camp has only three spacious suites each with its own plunge pool, en-suite bathroom, sala, and outdoor 'al fresco' shower. These and the lounge and dining area have wonderful views of the waterhole below the camp and the latter lends itself to relaxed, stylish dining under the African Sky. Guests at Little Ongava share a dedicated guide and vehicle, ensuring the best possible nature experience at one of Africa's great wildlife destinations. Day and night wildlife-viewing drives, visiting hides overlooking waterholes, walks and rhino tracking with experienced guides can all be enjoyed exclusively on this reserve. Game drives and day trips into nearby Etosha National Park are also offered.
I have been on five trips to south and east Africa, stayed in 20+ lodges, many high end. Little Ongava was the best. Room: huge living room and bathroom, large bedroom, infinity plunge pool and multiple outdoor lounge areas overlooking the valley. All tastefully and sumptuously decorated. Food: creative, plentiful and perfectly prepared at every meal, especially the freshly baked pastries for breakfast, the oryx filet at dinner, and homemade ice cream and/or sorbets of seemingly infinite variety at lunch and dinner, all delicious flavors and rich texture. Service friendly and attentive. Guide on game drives (Michael) the best I’ve ever had. I learned details about animals I had seen many times before but had never been told (example: the mouth structure of giraffes and how it enables them to eat; how their long eyelashes protect them from the thorny trees they like to dine on). There is a waterhole in the valley below the lodge, lit at night, with a hide about ten meters away, and we witnessed everything from a breeding herd of elephants drinking to giraffes, zebras, kudus, oryxes, impala, springbok, etc., culminating in at least four black rhinos every night. The last night was the best. Two bull black rhinos locked horns in a territorial rhino sumo match, which we viewed up close from the hide but unfortunately had to leave while it was still going on because it was so late and we had to pack. We were sure there was going to be a dead rhino on the playing field when we woke up but fortunately there was not. The game drives were great; those on the private reserve more fun than in Etosha next door. We did approaches on foot to an elephant and to two separate groups of white rhinos. Saw a lion that was eating a giraffe it had killed. The whole visit was just an incredible experience for someone who was concerned maybe he had had one too many trips to see wildlife on safari, but has now had his interest renewed.

In the foothills of the Grootberg massif, in stunning scenery set amidst the ancient Etendeka lava flows of northern Damaraland, you will find Etendeka Mountain Camp. Here the ancient basalt has been slowly eroded over millennia, leaving scattered boulders lying upon dramatic flat-topped mountains.
We had an incredible time at Etendeka. A very special place. The staff were amazing from the owner to the guides and hospitality staff - so friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the area, nature and wildlife. The food was delicious and just what was needed before and after some great activities which included nature walks and drives. A unique and special place and we cannot wait to return. Thank you so much to a very special team at Etendeka.

With vistas directly onto majestic red dunes, Kulala Desert Lodge is the closest location to Sossusvlei, and perhaps the lodge with the most spectacular views. The lodge's accessibility, and its large, friendly lounge and dining area with wrap-around veranda make this oasis in the desert perfect for families and friends. Visits to the dunes and vleis of Sossusvlei are highlights, along with fascinating desert wildlife and the overwhelming magnitude, and sense of adventure on the Kulala Wilderness Reserve. • 23 kulalas (3 family) • nature drives and walks • Sossusvlei excursion (via private gate) • Sesriem visit • sleep out deck • horse riding • hot air balloon
This was our first of 3 camps in our first visit to Namibia. The camp included about 10 little cabins with roof top for sleeping and viewing the stars which were plentiful when we were there. I learned how to identify the Southern Cross. All of the Winderness Safari camps I have been in are all very nice and this one was no different. The food is excellent and the guides are all extremely well trained. We saw lots of Oryx and springbok on our game drives. This area is more known for its landscapes than lots of animal sightings. We had excursions to Sossusvlei and the dunes Which we climbed up and down to where we could see the Deadvlei, 900 year old protected dead trees. The dunes are gorgeous when seen in the different light situations - early morning and later in the day. One picture you always see is an Oryx on top of a dune but our guide said that that meant it was going to be really hot. So not something you want to see! We also stopped off for a short walk at Seisrem Canyon where baboons live. One thing I particularly liked was talking with the various camps guides. They were all from different tribes. Our guide at this camp, Matthew, told us all about the customs of his tribe, the Himba. It was all very interesting. Our two days here came to an end all too soon. it was a wonderful experience.
