Our annual pilgrimage to Wincanton's splendid Discworld Emporium, accompanied by 3 generations of Discworld family enthusiasts. As ever, the warm welcome from Isobel and Bernard preceded much banter, jollity, Terry anecdotes and Discworld goodie purchases. (That's Christmas sorted for a couple of people then!) 5 year old Jack chose a Death plushie, and carried it for the rest of the day! Such fun, such detail, such great hosts...if you enjoy Discworld, you must visit this place...take it all in, read the plaques outside...it's a tiny slice of Discworld, with a huge heart.

This is the quintessence of an English country church, tucked away in the heart of a tiny village with barely 100 residents. The tower dates from the 15th century, whilst the rest of the church was lavishly rebuilt in 1869. Look out for a hatchment with the arms of George II, wonderful stained-glass windows and a temporary exhibition on "The Siege of Calais - May 1940" involving The Rifle Brigade.

I came here on Sunday with a few mates and we had a blast! Just being out in the fresh air, watching the races live. A bit of gambling on the side just to add to the thrill! Such a great day out. Totally recommend it if you’re in the area.

We have never been to The Nog Inn before and went on the recommendation of my daughter who had said the Carvery a few months previously had been excellent It was a last minute decision for 8 of us to have a meal and upon ringing to book a table they were very accommodating and reserved us a table with no bother. It’s a lovely little pub and was beautifully decorated for the festive season which added to the lovely atmosphere. The staff were really friendly, the service fabulous and the food absolutely delicious. Can highly recommend the truffle mac and cheese with a glass of their Shiraz. This was a real gem of a find and we will definitely be back.
