My husband and I found the slides and neat caves worth paying for. There is a free pool in town but we liked this place.

We stayed at Casper night before so we could catch this portion of our trip during the day. Well worth it. However, it would be even better if you drive south from Thermopolis, because river is on west side of highway. The towering cliffs both sides very interesting.

The Wyoming Dinosaur Center displays over 58 mounted skeletons, hundreds of displays and dioramas, a preparation lab with visitor viewing and active dig sites. Take a one of a kind tour to an actual dig site and see dinosaur bones preserved in the ground. Go on an adventure and participate in our Dig for the Day program. This program is for families and individuals. There are no age restrictions however children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. We also offer a Shovel Ready dig for an afternoon of fun.
Such a cool museum! It's super well-organized, with fossils grouped together by type of organism with informative individual labels on each fossil (I personally enjoyed some of the goofy titles). Unlike some other museums, it directs you in one direction so you don't have to keep backtracking. The main room is enormous, full of dinosaur and other fossils. These exhibits are also well-labeled, including exhibits on fossil pathology and fossil formation. I wandered around for a couple hours looking at each exhibit. An awesome museum, will definitely make a trip to visit again someday.

At Legend Rock Petroglyph site, visitors step back in time to A.D. 500-1700. Well-preserved prehistoric and American Indian etchings of animals and humans are located along Cottonwood Creek. The site is maintained by agents of Hot Springs State Park.
First and foremost make sure you know the opening times , this is from the state park web site
Sunrise to sunset.
Season
Site grounds open year round weather permitting:
May through September, no key required, open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
October through April, key required, can be picked up at State Bath House, Chamber of Commerce & Hot Springs County Museum.
We used the early opening to get here for 08:00 and only saw 3 others groups in the 2 hours we were here , take a pair of binoculars to really be able to appreciate the petroglyphs and if possible pick up a leaflet at the welcome centre box or research in advance the different styles on view here..
The welcome centre did not open during our time there but the rest rooms were open and the leaflet box was full.
Carved over thousands of years by prehistoric groups who made their living hunting and gathering in the Bighorn Basin, the petroglyphs of Legend Rock are a unique piece of Wyoming’s history.
The atmosphere was incredible and we walked along the length of petroglyphs several times and probably could have spent longer here than the 2 hours.

The Hole-in-the-Wall Saloon, the favorite watering hole of American legends Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, is one of the main attractions of this museum. We also have a Yellowstone stage, one-room schoolhouse, and a replica of Old-town Thermopolis.
We just dropped in here and we're so pleased we did. It's only $5 per adult and it's quite incredible how many exhibits there are! Downstairs the exhibits are displayed to show life in various periods and we were very interested in virtually all that...MoreThank you for reviewing us! We're happy you decided to stop in and check us out. We are constantly working hard to live up to our motto, "One Hot Museum"!
