The Poteau CVB is open all the time since it is housed in the side hall at the Days Inn & Suites at 1702 North Broadway in Poteau Oklahoma. There are racks with maps and literature from the state and local attractions too. The good thing is there is always someone on duty if you come through town after hours.

This was our first trip to "Christmas Island" at Lake Wister State Park but it was great. The park has only been being decorated for the past few years and it's a very rural area but it was great. The lights were fun and imaginative. Anyone who likes Christmas lights will like this. It takes about 15 minutes to drive through. There is no charge but they do accept donations. Numerous business and individuals in the area sponsor the lights.

This museum is a work in progress, but it is fascinating. They have all kinds of artifacts from all over the county--everything from military memorabilia such as WWI uniforms to runestones to Spiro Indian artifacts to antique medical equipment. This is housed in a hotel built in 1922 with amazing tile work. We were so fascinated that we came back the next day to see more!

A windy (several switchbacks) little black top road up to the top of the World's Tallest Hill leads to a small monument, lookout area, and picnic tables. The views are beautiful and there are several places along the road on the way to the top for you to pull over to look out around you. The road is a bit bumpy but not horrible and totally worth the drive if you are in the area. We stayed up on the top to watch the sunset and it was amazing.

Located in southeastern Oklahoma, near Poteau and Fort Smith, Arkansas, Wolf Ridge Country Club sits atop Cavanal Hill, "the highest hill in the world." The 18-hole course has magnificent views of rolling hills, lush valleys and the Ouachita Mountain Range. The newly installed bent grass greens are the best in the area. Wolf Ridge offers affordable memberships and we are open to the public. We are a family friendly golf course focused on providing excellent service and a relaxing atmosphere.
This is beautiful setting for a golf course. When playing golf, great players want to move fast and be challenged. Wolf ridge has that. The green's have had some problems in the past, but they are being treated with TLC.
I live in the area and love the quietness and beauty of Poteau.
