This is an in and out trail unless you take the stairs near the end which is a must do to join Levada Nova. This takes you to the falls which are spectacular! What we did was park at the church, go to the back and up the steps to the start of the trail. The trail hovered the side of a canyon with some drop-off sections but not dangerous as the wire rope fencing kept us safe. The trail is mostly dirt and rock. We could see Levada Nova above us at times. Great views all along the trail with a nice picnic stop about ¾ of the way down. We went up the steps to the falls and back to the church via Levada Nova. If you suffer from vertigo, I suggest you do not do Levada Nova as it has steep drop-offs without any rope fencing in places. What you can do is go to the falls then turn around and head back the same way you came along Levada Moinho. Both trails not busy when we went in January. You need a flashlight for the tunnel along Levada Nova.

The Quay is the "ex-libris" of Ponta do Sol. Built by the Municipality of Ponta do Sol in the middle of the 19th century to allow docking and easier transportation of persons and goods. The architecture is very unique, with a large, well-designed arch built in basalt stone. The best romantic sunset in the Island.
Most charming and best views yellow house restaurant hanging on cliffs in Ponta do Sol. Mom and pop family run, welcoming you like in their home, cooking most delicious food - grilled squid and prawns are out of this world! All fish is fresh and prepared to perfection with sufficient sides like boiled potatoes and veggies. We also had tuna and limpets, we also had octopus and sea bas... yeah we stayed in Madeira for a week and dined in this place 4 times, that’s how good it is!!!! During the windy weather they allowed us to sit on terrace above ocean and watch waves. It was such a breathtaking experience.

'Point of the sun' where you can bask in the sun. It is a pebble beach but has walk boards which you can also place a towel and enjoy the water. The ocean is in a man-made lagoon which allows for nice quiet swimming. Bring some sandals or beach shoes.
