Orcutt is an unincorporated town located in the Santa Maria Valley of California, and a census-designated place; it is in Santa Barbara County, California, United States. Orcutt is named for William Warren Orcutt, the manager of the Geological, Land and Engineering Departments of the Union Oil Company. Known as the “Dean of Petroleum Geologists" Orcutt is credited with discovering fossilized prehistoric animal bones preserved in pools of asphalt on the Hancock Ranch. These would be the first of many fossils excavated from the La Brea Tar Pits. In commemoration of Orcutt’s initial discovery, paleontologists named the La Brea Coyote in W.W. Orcutt’s honor, Canis orcutti.

This Boutique winery was established in 1995. The tasting room is the most recent addition to the project, and opened in the heart of Orcutt in Fall 2014. Winemaker, Clarissa Nagy strives to produce wines that exhibit the flavor profile of Santa Barbara County and the specific vineyard sites: Bien Nacido Pinot Blanc, Santa Maria Valley Garey Ranch Vineyard Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley Rose of Pinot Noir, Santa Maria Valley White Hawk Vineyard Viognier and Syrah, Los Alamos, CA With a background in Food Science and a love for sensory, Clarissa has set up the tasting room to Bring that experience to her customers. During a visit, one will experience why and how the shape of the wine glass changes the sensory experience. The same wines are presented side by side in the recommended glass verses an alternate wine glass. Clarissa can often be found behind the bar pouring, when she is not in the cellar or walking blocks in the vineyard. The tasting room is also open by appointment of Monday and Tuesday.
