A really cool place to take a break on a road trip. We travel down to the tampa area every year to visit family. I get tired of the interstate races. So I like to take hwy 19 down sometimes. About 1/2 way down when you cross the swaunee river just past the rest stop is the state park and one of the coolest swimming hole I've found. Kids love it and so do I because it's a great sleeping pill for them after they get back in the car.

Key West fishing charters, shark fishing, spear fishing, lobstering, diving and snorkeling, inshore, offshore, and flats fishing, and much more!
We were 3 people, unexperienced scuba divers - this was our first dive after the checkout. We choose Jimmy due to the reviews on trip advisor and could no have done a better choice.
He delivered exactly what we asked- an easy, shallow, no drifts scuba dive spot. We spent 3 hours in the water and the support from Jimmy was superb.
Highly recommended!
The most coincidence - he had lived in Brazil, in the same city I live today.

Warm spring water sends the manatees here for the winter months.
This is a truly wonderful state park. No huge bells and whistles, just laid back nature. Hiking trails, clear springs, spacious campsites, clean restrooms, snorkeling, scuba, swimming, paddling. Close to the Suwanee River, part of an underwater cave system Enjoyable 2 or 3 days.

The park is pretty nice. Lots of parking, especially if you arrive early. It has pavilions available to rent and plenty of picnic tables for those who don't want to pay. There's a playground for kids but it's kind of in the sun so it gets hot fast. The springs are nice and cold all day! The bathrooms on site were pretty gross though. There are also bees and wasps everywhere, to the point where there are roped off areas with signs that said "bee sting hazard." I don't know if I'd go again but my friends and I had a pretty good time while we were there.

The Nature Coast Trail highlight is the senic train trestle about four miles west of Fanning Springs. The trail is 31.7 miles of paved bike trail, there are three spokes to three small towns ( each with less than 2,000 people: Cross City, Trenton, and Chiefland ). Everyone stops at the train trestle to look at the swiftly flowing Suwanee. You will need to go over to Manatee or Fanning Springs to see Manatee, but the senic stretch from Fanning to North of the trestle you will see a lot of trees, birds and animals. The 7 mile stretch that goes to Trenton has shade from the trees along the farmland. All three towns have a pavillian, parking and restrooms.

Visited Dakotah Winery while camping at Manatee Springs. Wonderful establishment--very interesting and well stocked gift shop---fun wine tasting experience---beautiful grounds and fish pond--owners and staff very personable and knowledgeable of their wines. They had 3 dry (2 red and 1 white) plus numerous other sweet wines, along with very fine port at 18% alcohol and a sherry desert wine. Prices were reasonable for a boutique winery. Even though the power went out during the thunderstorm--they continued to pour their wine.

Anderson's Outdoor Adventures is located inside Manatee Springs State Park. We provide canoes and kayak rentals and a Full Menu of mouth watering BBQ right inside the park. We are the only BBQ Restaurant in Chiefland, FL that has swimming, a playground, beer, and great BBQ!
This trip on the Suwanee River was absolutely delightful. So peaceful, calm and interesting. Our guide, Charlie Anderson, has a true appreciation for this lovely trip. He gave us so many informative tips on what the history of the area is as well as pointing out the nature aspects. The food after the trip was tasty and most appreciated! Don't miss this if you are in the area and if you are nearby, detour in order to go
