A nice monument which was taken care of nicely. Surrounding the gumbud is the Subhash Park, in middle of which there is a Statue of great Freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose. Entry to main complex of Chor gumbad is now closed to protect the site. Also some restoration work was done some years back which is really nice.

Built by Shah Quli Khan (Nawab of Narnaul during Emperor Akbar's reign) in 1590, this was a resting place for the royals during their travel from Delhi to Ajmer. Surrounded by a large moat (sadly does not have any water now, except during monsoon), the central palace could be accessed only through an arched bridge which also had soldiers guarding the entry.
Embellished with original paintings in a very well preserved status, this indeed is a hidden treasure for all art and architecture lovers. Thankfully owing to the ASI office within the campus, the large campus is now free of encroachment and a must visit!

Its one of the best and very old architectural palaces of all times.Known as Chatta because of six floors with minus three levels of basements and plus three floors above ground is a grand palace of Raja Balmukund Rai. It was built around 450 yrs back and has one of the best air, sunlight and water cooling systems of olden days.
The entry to all the basements is not allowed and is closed for people. There used to be tunnels connecting this place to Agra and Delhi. Many stories of people missing from those tunnels are circulated.
Hardly any tourists reach here due to lack of awareness. Also its located in narrow lanes of town.
You can find it with bit efforts and enjoy the time in shooting old paintings too.

I chanced upon an ASI publication titled 'Monuments of Haryana' and read about various monuments spread across Haryana; wherein Shah Ibrahim's Tomb was also described.
Awestruck with the picture, I was on my way within 15 days. About 120kms from Gurgaon, post negotiating the labyrinths of a dusty south Haryana town - Narnaul, I landed up bang in front of this huge edifice. Stunning - is how one can describe this in one word.
Emaculate play of colours - grey and red stone, intricate designs carved in stone, very well preserved - and to top it all it is not even on a tourist's agenda!
What a fantastic hidden gem.
Pictures describe it better - I would try to upload a few.

Difficult to reach. Located a bit away from the Jal Mahal campus. Has a Tripolia gateway as well. No road access. Shah Quli Khan's contribution to the heritage of Narnaul is the well spread out Jal Mahal, which has a moat all around and an accessway to reach the same. Beautiful paintings still adorn the ceilings. Must visit.

Best way to explore any area is to explore like locals, made me choose this to explore Narnaul monuments. We enjoyed the tuk tuk ride like local people, it feels like out of this world. The ride is not smooth but memorable photographic and real lvillage ife experience for long time. Most of tuk tuk are extinct now only a few are left, we are lucky to enjoy the original one of them.
