The greatest landscapes are best seen from above, without noise and with time to take it all in. North East Victoria's High Country is one such landscape and travelling across it by balloon is magical. Goldrush Ballooning offers flights in the King Valley where we are proud to partner with Brown Brothers Milawa, and also at Mansfield where we meet and breakfast post flight at the Mansfield Coffee Merchant.

Great food and great wine. Food was delicious and makes heavy use of what is raised and grown on the property. Fresh and delicious. Figs, goat, duck, etc. Wine is really excellent too. Many with significant bottle age and very good prices. You won’t be disappointed in the $20 to $30 range.

La Cantina King Valley is a small family owned winery situated 42kms south of Wangaratta in the King Valley. Here, the Corsini Family, make wines using methods passed down through the generations. Our wines are made using estate grown fruit following traditional Tuscan processes retaining the full characteristics of each grape variety. All of our wines have no preservatives added and are vegan friendly.
We were grateful to our host during our stay in the King Valley for recommending this small family winery. The family are from Tuscany, and this is reflected in the style and decor of the tasting room. All of the wines are made without any sulphites or other preservatives added. They have quite a large range of wines, mainly from traditional Italian varieties. They also offer a very interesting, big, full bodied, deep purple wine made from Saperavi, an ancient Georgian variety. We enjoyed all of the wines we tasted, and look forward to enjoying our purchases at home. The family "staff" were all very friendly and knowledgeable. The tasting procedures were very professional. We can strongly recommend a visit to La Cantina.

The King River runs from the Alps through the King Valley and joins the Ovens River in Wangaratta. The river is a great place for activities such as fishing, swimming, canoeing and whitewater rafting. There is also camping beside the river with many families enjoying the experience year after year. The King River is now abbutted by many of the wineries of the King Valley.
