Top 7 Things to do in Karlshorst, Germany

November 18, 2021 Malia Yoakum

Berlin is an edgy city, from its fashion to its architecture to its charged political history. The Berlin Wall is a sobering reminder of the hyper-charged postwar atmosphere, and yet the graffiti art that now covers its remnants has become symbolic of social progress. Check out the Weltzeituhr (world time) Clock, topped by a model of the solar system, then turn back time by dining at the historic Zur Letzten Instanz, a 16th century restaurant that was frequented by Napoleon and Beethoven.

German-Russian Museum

This was my favourite museum in Berlin. I love WWII history and this addressed what is often neglected in Western history classes - the Eastern Front, which really was the main one in terms of battles and lives lost. The museum is a solid 20-25 minute walk from the metro, so heads-up on that. But sooo worth it. Less biased than other museums, I find. If in Berlin again, I would return, I liked it so much. Also not at all crowded (probably since it's not in the city centre). I got the audioguide, and do recommend that to augment the experience.
