Great natural geological site where the black colored natural oil oozing from the earth then tarred to the piles. If you have an arranged visiting to the nearby city Karamy in Xinjiang, it will be easy for a visit. Otherwise it will be a small portion of spot in your long travel routing and easy drop to the skipping list.

The Ghost Town is the nickname for Feng Cheng (the Windy Town), and it is named as such for just the wind rather than its appearance. Located in the northern edge of Junggar Basin, between the Altay Mountains and Tianshan Mountains. The nature is beautiful, but the local tourist authorities turned it into “a kind of Disneyland” paying 200-300 RNB for a 30 min bus ride...

Over the last few years the local government seem to have invested some money in turning the river into a tourist attraction. Many new Bridges have been built a walking Promenade was created. In the evening there is a music/fountain/light show. We took the kids on one of the boat trip which takes about 30 minutes and goes under the various Bridges. All the seats in the boat faced inwards and there was no outdoor area. Found this a little strange. Would recommend not taking the boat trip but just watch the show from the river bank. There are very little lights on the river bank so hold onto to your kids if you go there when its dark as you might not find them again with all the pople.
