Moara de hârtie (The Paper Mill) Association has initiated and is developing The Paper Mill and the Crafts Village Complex in Comana (Giurgiu county, very close to Bucharest), that consists of 10 creative workshops based on old crafts, that used to be practiced in the Romanian traditional village: weaving at the hand loom, reed mace processing, blacksmith, pottery and ceramics, woodwork, traditional kitchen, traditional mill and bakery, as well as book-related crafts: hand-made paper, letterpress printing and bookbinding. Our mission is that of being a focal point of synergy between people, crafts and art, doing this by: 1. Direct experience. 2. Education and training. 3. Manufacturing handmade objects in the spirit of the old crafts.

Comana Natural Park is a nice park about a 45 minute drive from Bucharest. It has a zip line you can ride, horses, a couple restaurants, a "love" bridge where you attach a padlock, make a wish and throw away the key into the lake, as well as plenty of space for picnic's and resting. My friend who lives nearby told me that in the summer time they sometimes have concerts and plenty of activities for the kids, which makes it a perfect family destination. During my recent visit it was cold and not so crowded. I enjoyed walking around the park and imagined how crowded it must be in the warm weather. I would definitely like to revisit this park during the summer. Romania has a lot of parks and I'd definitely recommend this one.

Along with my brother, I tackled the Giurgiu Nord hiking trail (you will be searched for your identity documents on the train before you can get off) to the center of Rousse. The march covers a distance of approx. 15 km, but it is relatively easy to do. It is about 7km to the bridge itself, there you should be prepared to be asked both on the Romanian and the Bulgarian side for the reason for the passage and for valid ID documents. Passing on foot costs nothing, you have to pay a toll fee by car. On the bridge, there is a very narrow hiking trail, on which partly pipes are also laid. But this hiking trail is definitely worth it for the beautiful view of the Danube. Then it proceeds from the industrial area in Rousse, along the Mladenzhki Park, to the city center.
