Nearly surrounded by Chesapeake Bay and its inlets, this park offers campsites, hiking trails, flat water canoeing and kayaking along miles of isolated shoreline and marshland.
This was my 3rd stay in a tent at this campground. This time it was myself and my 2 boys (12 and 5). We've stayed for 6 days (longest we've ever done) and still wished we've stayed longer. When camping in a tent, I'd recommend Loop B (electric sites). The bathroom/shower is well kept and very comfortable. We go mostly for crabbing and every day dinner consisted of at least a dozen of crabs the kids caught during that day. My favorite sites due to close proximity to the bathroom and the crabbing are #14, 15, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24. There are activities offered for kids, the staff is great and they make you feel very comfortable whatever you do at the park. Rangers patrol the sites very often, living no concerns when it comes to safety. Insects are an issue (summer in marshlands!), but can be controlled with a repellant. Personally, I make my own with essential oils, but whatever you choose make it your priority for the trip. Netted shelters are a good idea also. If you like to run or bike, be ready. Loop B and C, offer a perfect opportunity for both. We took advantage of that every morning: the boys on their bikes and myself on foot. We are going back at the end of July and it can't get here fast enough! LOVE this campground with everything it has to offer!

Chesapeake Ghost Walks is the largest cluster of regional ghost walks in America. 11 Separate ghost tours focus on haunted properties in historic towns on Maryland's Eastern Shore. Towns included are Ocean City MD, Berlin MD, Easton MD, Cambridge MD, St. Michaels MD, Snow Hill MD, Princess Anne MD, Crisfield MD, Pocomoke MD, Salisbury MD and Denton MD. Each walk is led by a storyteller/guide who is well versed on the history and folklore of that particular town, as well as paranormal and psychic phenomena. Suitable for adults and kids. Tours do NOT enter haunted properties.
4 hours of great stories and places. Time went by so fast. So much history and folklore. I could have rode the bus all night listening to Missy talk. Missy told great stories, history with folklore, history teachers could learn from her.
Can’t wait for the next tour.

The perfect marina for boating, sailing and fishing on the Chesapeake Bay and the Tangier and Pocomoke Sounds. Home to charter boats, headboats, bait & tackle, and new stainless steel fish-cleaning stations. This 515 slip marina offers access to many of Somerset County's finest attractions and is located in historic Crisfield, Maryland.
This is one of the nicest marinas I have visited on Chesapeake Bay. The staff is very friendly and eager to help. Facilities are clean and plentiful. Laundry, pool, pavilion with grills, grocery store is 1 mile. Rent bikes free for 2 hours. Store carries all the basics you need.
Highly recommend.

An island in the Chesapeake where residents live much as their ancestors did hundreds of years ago.
Where do I start, difficult to find. Not much communication, if you go you'll have to ask questions. No greeting on the boat, not very friendly, no announcements until you are moving. Almost like they don't want you there.

Meanwhile please enjoy our website to discover more about Crisfield -The Heart of the Chesapeake
The Crisfield Heritage Foundation headquarters are at the J. Millard Tawes Historical Museum. This museum was the focal point for a Road Scholar program we attended. The museum features information on the seafood industry, which once made Crisfield the seafood capital of the world. It also features the Ward Brothers, who made counterfeit (decoys) ducks and geese for the local hunters. These decoys are now collector items and much to be desired. Well worth a visit if you want to learn about the area.

We must say good, basic fried, broiled, steamed seafood at reasonable prices. Excellent place for steamed crabs fresh from the Chesapeake Bay and they are well season. There is a bonus, a tiki bar outside with a dj some week-ends.
The steamed shrimp were perfectly cooked, but tasted of iodine as some previously frozen steamed shrimp do. The fried shrimp were on the medium side and were average. Crab cakes, crab dip and crab stuffed mushrooms were perfection and made from real Chesapeake bay crabmeat - not the Asian trash that many restaurants are using today which I deplore. The sides are average but competent. The female manager is pleasant and friendly and runs a good operation. The plus is they do fabulous pours on their cocktails.
This is another sure bet, although nothing fancy, in the small town of Crisfield.

A great way to view historic Smith Island on a short day trip. A very comfortable high speed boat, safe and comfortable.
