With its plentiful beaches, dramatic mountains, and backdrop of samba and bossa nova rhythms, it's easy to fall in love with Rio de Janeiro. Made famous in song, Ipanema Beach is still the place to stroll, sunbathe, and be seen. The largest Art Deco statue in the world, Christ the Redeemer, beckons visitors to Corcovado Mountain. Rio’s annual Carnaval celebrations are bacchanalian extravaganzas of feasting, music, dance, and costumed revelry.

Folia Tropical has been present at Rio Carnival since 2013. There are 7 lounge areas, including one which borders the avenue, allowing one to feel as they were participating in the parade. The "folião" also has the option to watch the parade from a panoramic view on the 2nd floor. In order to celebrate the Brazilian culture, we will have performances from great musicians in the country.

Attending Carnival in Rio de Janeiro is a once in a lifetime experience for sure. We booked box seats in the Sambodromo through Holland America. We only saw 3 Samba parades on the Friday night but the experience. It's difficult to tell in words or to show in a photograph the experience of being with 90,000 of your new close friends all joined in celebration. It's the spectacle, yes, but also the music, the dance, the whole environment. WOW! The day after Carnival ends, the planning starts for the next year. Each school comes up with a theme, original songs are written and the show is choreographed floats designed and built, etc. All is done in great secrecy. The costumes are not distributed until two weeks before the competition.
