2nd time visiting this little gem of a museum- this time with grandparents and children in tow ! It didn’t disappoint- something for all ages. The weather did us in though- despite the offer of coats from the guardroom ! All the staff were as welcoming as ever- never fear - we will be back !!

Found this place almost accidentally whilst looking for a bluebell walk and spent a magical few hours wandering among bluebells, along beautiful streams, little leafy nooks with just the sound of birds, past an ancient longhouse and a corner of an 18th century garden to the place where a 6th century inscribed stone marks the place of battle where King Arthur killed his son Mordred and was mortally injured himself. The reception, teashop and museum area is delightfully ramshackle, relaxed and friendly. Please stay quirky and don't ever turn yourselves into a ghastly National Trust -type place where every experience is pre-digested and 'tasteful' Stay just the way you are,cos you're delightful!!!!
