From Bad Staffelstein hike up to the Staffelberg and from there is a pleasant walk to Vierzehnheiligen. It has a brewery next to it - we are in Frankonia after all - and the inside of the basilica is spectacular. For those admiring lots of stucco, gold, fat angels and that sort of thing, its a pilgrimage destination so in summer it tends to be very full.

A variety of different spa pools, brine pools, steam and sauna in the thermebad section of Obermaintherme. An excellent place to relax. I thoroughly recommend visiting Saunaland, which is attached in the same complex. I recommend you have a day ticket to experience all of the 'aufguss' opportunities - my skin has never felt so good! Word of warning to fellow Brits: it is a naked sauna - once I was over the initial shock, I was very relaxed and found it quite therapeutic! We also ate at the restaurant, which was excellent quality: I had a fantastic large tuna & egg salad! We will definitely be going back!

We've been there with a group of 13 people for a friends stag night. For this purpose the raft was ok, since it is mainly a drinking event. But we preordered our food and they did not manage to serve everything due to a lack of steaks. The food we got on the raft was terrible. The run itself is rather boring and nothing special. To sum it up if you come to have some beers it is alright, but it doesnt measure up to other expectations.

...monastery with a beautiful church. The view is nice as well and they seem to have quite a good beergarden/restaurant. The Hans-Seidel-Stiftung seems to use most of the complex - great for those that earn a stipendium and hold meetings there.

Only in Germany (or so I think) do they have a beergarden on top of a mountain so once you made it up there (it's not overly hard but a bit steep in places) you can straight away put the pounds that you lost, due to your exercise, back on :-)
Fun aside though I think this is one of the best placed beergardens I have ever been too and that means something as there are others I really like..
They even have their own beer up there - not sure if they brew it up there but they call it Staffelberg Braeu.
I did not try the food but from what I could see it looked tasty and was well priced given the location.

OK, I'll admit I was skeptical about the possibility of falling to my death from the trees...but once you take that first leap, the rest is pure fun and adrenaline. This is a great experience for all ages (not too young though). Instructors ensure you have your harness on properly and how to safely navigate on the ropes before you actually start on the course. Once done, you are free to start on any of the 4 courses you wish.
Nearby is also a little Kiosk/Hut where you can get Drinks and Snacks.
