This small island encased in a triangular barrier reef boasts incredible lagoons. Relax with a intimate picnic on the alabaster beach of one of Aitutaki’s minor islands, uninhabited and lined with swaying palm trees. Despite its heartbreaking beauty, Aitutaki isn’t (yet) flooded with tourists, due to its relatively difficult-to-reach location. For off-the-beaten-sandbar vacationing, Aitutaki is a prime destination, especially for those seeking unbridled romantic ambiance.

These waters are home to a large number of fish, making it a favorite spot for snorkeling or scuba diving.
This place is so beautiful it is hard to describe, we highly recommend this as a place to visit. If you are after nightlife etc this isn't the place, this place is for relaxing and taking in the views swimming in the lagoon and going on a lagoon cruise.

This tiny island in Aitutaki's beautiful lagoon contains a post office and a single cabin that can be rented by visitors. Most visitors just come for the day to experience the tranquil location and to snorkel in the lagoon.
Can't miss this for sure! Lagoon cruise or sailing you this place is amazing. Explore the island and get in the water! Giant clams are close and abundant GT's. Wear good reef shoes on the backside with is less traveled and beautiful in its own right.

We loved staying at O'otu Beach (Ranginui's Retreat)! Each morning started out with a long kayak in the lagoon during sunrise and couldn't have been better. Great restaurants nearby - Koru Cafe, Boat Shed - and we got our car rental at Popoara so we could see the rest of the island.

A sign on the road (west side near Paradise Cove Lodges) marks the route up to the highest point on Aitutaki - very steep in some parts, so good athletic shoes are a must. Would not recommend a bike or scooter. Views of the lagoon and reef are amazing!

This deserted island was the location used for the British TV series Shipwrecked, where 16 people were left on an uninhabited island to fend for themselves.
During our Lagoon Cruise with Captain Fantastic (Kia Orana), we stopped here and were led on a brief jungle walk. We saw a few different species of beautiful seabirds and saw old mahogany trees; we learned about the different uses of the hibiscus plant; and were told the legend of a Cook Islander and his daughter hiding in a cave on the island to escape their enemies. Very cool spot!
