Great views and cycle path all the way to the summit. Many walking paths lead to and from this Chiltern Hills outlier.

Natural History Museum at Tring

Besides the incredible collection of almost every type on animal on display, as an architect what impressed me as much was the beautiful building and the fine craftsmanship of the display cabinets. Overall an incredible experience especially with all the Rothschild history involved. I felt as if I was transported by a time machine to a Victorian or a Dickinson era not that I’ve checked if it had anything to do with those times but that’s how I relished the experience.

I went there on New Years Day, as my dad has a memorial bench there, overlooking the lake where the birds sit and swim on the water. I went my husband, daughter and granddaughter. It has lovely views and great to see the wildlife.

Another lovely walk around one of the recommended trails around the reservoirs, this time just a short 3.5 miler, and although the towpath on the Wendover arm was a bit muddy, it was perfectly passable without needing to swim through puddles. perfect way to pass a Lockdown2 morning!

Tring Park

Tring Park is one of Hertfordshire’s most important ecological areas and one of the Trust’s most exciting and diverse sites. Covering an area of 107 hectares (264 acres), it contains a mosaic of habitats such as chalk grassland, scrub, mixed woodland and parkland landscaped by Charles Bridgeman in the late 17th and early 18th centuries. The whole area collectively supports a diverse range of plants, invertebrates, mammals and birds.

Found the Tring Park circular walk by the Chiltern Society online. Although a misty day, we had a most enjoyable walk. It took just under 2 hours. Thank you Andrew Clark for drawing up this walk.

Very pretty place, with a water fountain and seats around the park to sit and contemplate, weather was goog for our visit, and the begonias were stunning. So glad we went to have a stroll round there.
