Our docent was a tribal member descended from early members of the Wampanoag tribe and very familiar with the history and willing to share her family and tribe's legacy. The museum is a little jewel, with a dugout canoe and wigwam in the back. There's a lot to learn and our host was generous in sharing the tribe's history up to the present day.

Mashpee commons has a variety of shops and several choices of places to get a meal. The parking is free and plentiful. The grounds are very well taken care of. We took advantage of some after Christmas sales and stopped by Bobby Byrnes for a. Cocktail.

We went here twice during our September stay on Monoscomoy Island, Mashpee. Since it was September, there is no charge to park. We walked and walked and walked some more - in both directions. Loved the piping plovers, saw a seal in the water, interesting to see many horseshoe crabs washed ashore as well as many slipper shells. We walked the Dead Neck Trail through the dunes - gorgeous - which ends at the state jetty. Beautiful area, lovely walks, highly recommend!
