Covington is a city in Kenton County, Kentucky, located at the confluence of the Ohio and Licking Rivers. Cincinnati, Ohio, lies to its north across the Ohio and Newport, Kentucky, to its east across the Licking. Part of the Cincinnati–Northern Kentucky metropolitan area, Covington had a population of 40,640 at the time of the 2010 U.S. census, making it the fifth-most populous city in Kentucky. The overlook is the best view in the tri state area. I could sit and look at Covington and Cincinnati's skylines for hours. There are many playgrounds for kids, a golf course, a museum, shelter houses, an event location, a historic bandshell, and so many green spaces with picnic tables and places to relax and hike.

One of the best kept secrets in Cincinnati is actually hiding in plain sight. As you cross the Roebling bridge, which is famous in its own right, you will see huge murals on the wall on the Kentucky Riverbank, that are now termed the Roebling Murals. These beautiful murals trace the history of the area including bison migration pathways of old crossing the Ohio River, uncle Tom's Cabin story of Eliza the slave escaping across the Ohio River, and paintings of Roebling Bridge architect John Roebling who went on to design the Brooklyn Bridge in nearly identical fashion. The view from the murals, of the great Ohio River, the highlights of the architecture over on the Cincinnati shoreline, and the Roebling bridge itself are simply outstanding and photogenic, in any season. Stop over and have a scenic view with a history lesson that can be enjoyably absorbed. I have brought numerous international visitors, scholars and students to see this spectacular site, and they all insist on its being a great spot.

Pioneer park is a decent, well maintained park. It experiences flooding quite a bit, but and flood damage is quickly fixed and left looking better than ever. The park is very easy to get too, plenty of parking, and has a nice dog park. The picnic shelter is nice as well.
