Sárréti Chilifarm opened its gates in 2012 as an exciting family business in the North-Eastern region of Hungary. The goals that have been set were finally came true in Tétlen with hardly 1500 inhabitants, in Hajdú-Bihar County. The Chilifarm does not only provide job opportunities for local residents, but is a unique example for every young entrepreneur as the Bogár family built up their business. According to the owner Márk Bogár, ”the family and the business are two separate sectors, even if they sometimes come together, never mix them.” Succes is, of course a family value, and without cooperation and each other’s support, succes could not have been achieved. The young entrepreneur often refers with gratitude to his grandparents with whom he went regularly to the market as a child, or his parents, whose advice is still an important guide in the business today.

As you enter the downtown area of Debrecen it is massive and impossible to miss. It is the largest Protestant Church in Hungary and it has the largest Bell of the Protestant Churches in Hungary. That is why Debrecen is called the Calvinist Rome. There were several churches which were destroyed, one before the present church burned during the Great Fire that destroyed Debrecen in 1802 and the construction of this Great Church started in 1805. The capacity is for 5000 people. The towers are 61 meters high. It is worth visiting.

It's a quiet, calm place in the centre of the town, near the Spa. Before Christmas it was decorated with christmas trees and a reindeer with a sledge. It's got a special atmosphere especially in the evening when everything is illuminated. There are some cafes and restaurants nearby. we liked walking there.

To the advise of our landlord we took a bus instead of driving to this park. There are trolleys and buses that take you there and it was easy and relaxed short trip. We noticed how many people, including families who chose to go to the park riding their bikes. Bike riders have priority when crossing a street in Hungary and drivers are extremely aware of them. Some bike riders don't even look at the traffic and they cross the roads and the drivers just make a full stop. Very friendly for bike riders the entire country. Free admission to the park ( no bikes inside of course) and a fantastic atmosphere. There were stands from different parts of Europe with food, so there was a lot to choose. An area of beers only, local food, deserts, ice cream, other beverages, candy, souvenirs. Of course this is a small forest in the middle of the city with several very large man-made ponds. Now the amazing thing to me was the incredibly large number of koi fish, I have never seen so many koi at once, there were for sure millions, even some over a foot long. Just unbelievable. People feed them freely bread and nobody complains, there are no signs of not to feed them and the koi just love to be fed. The competition between the koi and ducks for food is just incredible. The koi are on top of each other bringing their little mouths off the water, the ducks are swimming at full speed when a little something lands close to where they are, it is just amazing to see. Locals bring bread from home just for this activity and of course little children get to throw bread and watch this show. The walkways in the park are beautifully tiled, wide and nicely curved. There is an amphitheatre and that evening there was a show. A tribute to the Beattles. I would go back to this park any time. Debrecen is a great city.

Located in Debrecen's Great Forest, the oldest conservation area in Hungary, the Debrecen Zoo and Amusement Park opened in 1958 as the country’s first zoo outside the capital. Now covering a combined area of 17 hectares, the institution has a threefold mission as it includes a zoo, a botanical collection, and an amusement park.
It was a wonder. This zoo is very small, but the staff is more than very enthusiastic. They love the animals and they are kind and smiling people. Lovely visit.

Another great place to sit and enjoy many pools of various temperatures and depths as well as sunshine and you can take a break and have lunch and a drink or some great icecream or gelato ver do get there as early as possible as it fills fast especially when you want a lounge chair and a pool side spot.great for the entire family and if you are adventurous enough there is a wild water park with a whe lot of different size slides as this place is the largest waterpark in Europe.
