BOOK YOUR VISIT ONLINE NOW! We’re delighted to confirm that we plan to open from Tuesday 18th May. Pecorama at Beer, one of East Devon’s leading visitor attractions, is the home to the famous PECO Model Railway Exhibition and the Beer Heights Light Railway. The Exhibition hall displays wonderfully detailed railway layouts, in many different gauges. Outdoors, a fleet of miniature steam locomotives pull passenger trains on a mile-long route through the grounds, over bridges, through steep-sided cuttings and a long, dark tunnel! Pecorama also features the Millennium Celebration Garden, a series of five celestially themed garden ‘rooms’. The individual garden names of Sun, Moon, Rainbow, Roof and Moat Garden reflect the nature and colour of the flowers, shrubs and trees found in each. Children can choose from a variety of outdoor play equipment areas whilst you sample some delights from our takeaway outlets across the site. New for 2021 – WE ARE NOW DOG FRIENDLY!
Took my 2 boys aged 6 and 8. Had no prior knowledge of this place. What a pleasant surprise! Highlights included ride on the outdoor model railway, crazy golf, large soft play facility, beautiful gardens, model railways and to top it all of, a Devon cream tea served in a beautifully restored Pullman carriage. What really made this place stand out was the staff...everyone was incredibly friendly and seemed like they were very happy to be working there.

Guided tours of vast underground caverns started by the Romans, which provided Beer stone used in 24 Cathedrals, Westminster Abbey, Tower of London, and many other historic buildings. See for yourself where and how the stone was quarried, the appalling working conditions and dangers faced by the work force, some as young as 8 years old. See too, the site of the secret Catholic Chapel and where smugglers hid their contraband. 2000 years of heritage brought vividly to life
Had a great tour of Beer quarry and caves, we have been before when the kids were younger, and returned this year. Excellent way to spend an hour below ground, very informative and knowledgeable tour guide, whitty, and some fascinating local stories that draw you right in. Temperature is around 7° so you need a coat or jumper and sensible footwear, hard hat is supplied, and cleaned with Covid in mind. Nice little cafe for a coffee, and portaloo toilets In the car park. Overall this is a brilliant tour for young and old. Love this place.

Seaton Tramway operates narrow gauge heritage trams between Seaton, Colyford and Colyton in East Devon's glorious Axe Valley, travelling alongside the River Axe estuary through two nature reserves and giving an unrivalled view of the abundant wading bird life. The coastal resort of Seaton is now a gateway town to the Jurassic Coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, whilst the historic town of Colyton is described as "Devon's Most Rebellious Town" for its part in the Monmouth Rebellion of 1685.The company originated at the Lancaster Electrical Company of Barnet, which manufactured battery electric vehicles. In 1949 its owner, Claude Lane, indulged his hobby by building a miniature 15” gauge tram, which he ran at garden fetes. This portable system enjoyed temporary homes at St Leonard’s and Rhyl before evolving onto the 2’ gauge Eastbourne Tramway. Many of the present trams were built at Eastbourne, but by the mid 1960’s the tramway’s success was outgrowing the mile line. Claude therefore began to look for alternative locations. In late 1969, Claude purchased the Seaton to Colyton section after the branchline had been closed by Dr Beeching in 1966 and, after a mammoth relocation from Eastbourne, the first section was opened in 1980. Since then the tramway has developed into one of Devon’s best loved attractions.New trams have been added to the fleet and the buildings have been much improved in order to meet the needs of the thousands of enthusiastic people who visit each year.
What a lovely day. Went with a friend and our grandchildren (both aged 3) and it was magical. For such young children they absolutely loved it and so did we. Singing chefs and conductors, lovely trams, hot chocolate and cookies and Father Christmas at the North Pole - All while dressed in your pyjamas!!! Definitely recommend that you watch the movie beforehand. Loved the whole experience and definitely recommend ????????

Love visiting Seaton Wetlands. Easy location to find with parking being at Seaton cemetery. Ample parking but it is more of a pebble car park. Reach the Wetlands by the entrance at bottom left of car park. Initial path is more of a track but on on wetlands it is tarmac path. Has four hides spread out over the site. First one just turn right through the gate and go down the side of lake to reach the hide. You do have to go up about 25 steps to get in though. Overlooks lake and estuary. If you don't fancy this one just walk on the main path. After couple hundred yards there is a hide, with a walkway, on the lake. After this there's a viewing platform overlooking the lake and farther on the main hide with a manned station by it. This one offers garden birds on the feeders and has toilets near it. You can carry on the path to reach another hide. It's situated near the tramline and is accessed by a field. If you're not into cattle give it a miss. Wetlands offers various and differing types of birds. We'll worth a peaceful two hours or more.

Beer Beach is quite large and rock pools can be explored at low tide, it is popular with swimmers, Paddle boarders, canoeists, motor boats and fishing trips, a walk down the ramp from the high street and the beach opens out - wow what a beautiful place to be- especially in the sun - Beer always seems so warm with its own micro climate. Heaven !!!

My husband and I took our 9 year old nephew to Seaton Jurassic in late August. It exceeded our expectations. There was lots of information about the Jurassic coastline presented in an interesting, fun and interactive way. Our nephew enjoyed answering questions at various points throughout the exhibition and then stamping his information booklet which he took away with him. He also enjoyed running through the waterfall and getting wet! We were there approx 2 hours but could have spent longer. We'll definitely go back. The garden is a great place to have a picnic although we enjoyed a snack in the cafe.
