Akeem Williams, Cultural Experience Belize, brought us to Blue Creek, to meet Yona (at her Mayan restaurant) and Vince Ical to guide us on a hike and then a swim through the cave on Blue Creek, to a waterfall. We turned off our headlamps and experience total darkness. After the hike and cave swim, we headed back to Vince & Yona's place where Yona taught us how to grind roasted cacao beans into chocolate, shape and grill corn tortillas, and fed us a scrumptious traditional lunch. We purchased some of Yona's freshly made chocolate bars and are still enjoying them ... best chocolate ever! Akeem then took us to a Mayan ruin and shared more storied about local history, culture, peoples, and traditions.

Our stop at the Rio Blanco Falls was the highlight of the hot day. We swam, explored behind the powerful falls, and I (nearly 60 years old) jumped off the (smaller) bluff into the clear cool water. Beautiful place!
