We really enjoyed our visit to the Beacon. The staff were great...very helpful in explaining the layout of the museum and the new rules to keep everyone safe! The exhibits were interesting and absorbing. My favourite was the touch screen on the top floor showing the very gradual development of the harbour.

Being back home in sunny Whitehaven and wanting a Sunday lunch everyone advised there was one place to go "here" Usually serving a carvery buffet its the place to go, how ever due to restrictions of the old covid it was table service only. Now a buffet!! Who doesn't go wild and top their plate right up like their trying to be some tetris legend??? So when the staff are dishing up the portions its expected they won't be as excitable as if you were doing it yourself.... WRONG There's some serious ninja style tetris shenanigans going on here! The plate arrived piled with 4 meats, mash, peas, brocoli, cauliflower cheese, roasts, carrot and swede mash(i think, but was yummy) lots more and all topped with a Yorkshire pudding that wouldn't of looked out of place in the elephant mans photo album (it was that big and crispy and just yum) I was a big boy that day and ate up all my dinner and maybe had to even losen my belt and I struggled, so much so I couldn't eve think about looking at the desert menu which is almost against my religion. Amazing home cooked food and a must for anyone wanting a good feed and a good roast dinner. Top food and lovely staff (think her name was Wendy, and her fantastic waitress pad) will definitely be back for round 2 with a dessert

We visited the Rum Story on Monday, It was a good insight into the heritage of Rum, at the end you are greeted with a taste of Rum which warms you inside and out, the courtyard cafe is a nice place for tea and cake.

We have a 25 metre x six lane main pool and a separate teaching pool, holding a wide range of activities from adult only swimming, parent and toddler sessions, inflatable fun time, swimming lessons and gentler sessions through our Active Life classes. Our fitness suite opened in 2014 and is a great addition to the centre, with a spacious, modern fitness gym and multi-functional studio space for fitness classes and private hire, all on one level.
