Things to do in Santa Maria
Family visit a few months after the big remodel. Nice decor, good lighting, comfortable seating. We ordered a gyoza appetizer $4.95, BBQ chicken teriyaki bento $13.95 and a vegetable tofu udon bowl $9.95. The gyoza were good but had quite a lot of fryer oil still on them. The teriyaki bento had a lot of food that could easily be shared by 2 kids. The udon bowl was large and very tasty. Seemed to be a bit salty. Not sure if they offer a low sodium version. Service was very good. Overall, we were pleased with this visit and we plan to return to try other items on the menu.

This place is in a stand alone small buidling. It may not look like much but the food is great. For lunch, the bento is $8.99, consisting of a whole wiriting board full of sushi and kitchen items from which you can choose three. Salad, miso soup and rice comes with it. This build your own bento is an excellent idea. The fish was excellent, the tempura (onje of the three choices I made) was huge. The service was fast and courteous. I loved it.

Family of 8 had lunch. The service was slow with only two servers and many customers. When the food arrived, some of it was cold. First time we had not had excellent service and food.

I'm not a big fan of raw fish, but the baked specialty rolls here are wonderful eating. I recommend either the Mountain Roll or Lion King Roll for great combinations of flavors. The service is excellent and prices are very reasonable. I understand the sashimi and raw sushi items are fresh and nicely-prepared, but I drove 150 miles mostly to enjoy their Mountain Rolls once again.

We ate here with 4, based on other reviews. We had the Atari-Ya special, chicken teriyaki and special of the week which were all great. Nice and friendly staff, kitchen is open which I always find a positive aspect. Prices are ok, ate (+ 3 japanese beers and a tea) for 84 dolllars which is certainly good value for your money!
