This small sushi bar has a nice view of the harbor and offers sushi and sashimi (plus other things like tempura) for reasonable prices. We had set meals that consisted of several pieces of sushi, clear soup with noodles and fish, a few small nuggets of fried chicken, marinated eggplant, some kind of yummy dumpling in broth, and a few veggies plus (1) in my husband's case, several pieces of tempura, and (2) in my case several slices of good quality sashimi. Each cost 2000 yen, or approximately $20 US. A real bargain considering the quanity and quality of the food.

A great sushi restaurant, run by a senior couple. Owner plays itamae with a younger man, both super warm and welcoming, and willing to please clients. The lady is in charge of the service. No tourists, tv set behind the bar, quiet atmosphere. Feels like home. Dignity, fresh sea products (some of them so fresh they wait in a nearby fish tank), skill, and most important, in the opposite extreme of those awful tourist traps. Only a short walk from Onomichi Station and Green Hill Hotel. Little English spoken, but food is the great bridge: thry will understand you. It is not a high end Tokyo sushi place "discovered" by 50 Best. Best yet, it is probably the best sushi place in a fishing port city, and it seems to be where locals go. Prices very reasonable, expect usd 60 for a full omakase dinner, worth every penny. I wish we just could stay one more day to go back.

There is no English menu but with few Japanese words you can order a Sashimi and Tempura set. The hostess is super friendly and will make you feel welcome. We were not disappointed! It tasted great and the presentation nice and funny! Also, the view at the window on the harbor is very nice.
