After a long day we went to this famous restaurant. Already the first minute I entered the restaurant I was impressed, the counter with fresh meat products and not to forget : the big drier where the meat was aged. Serving free (bottled) water at the table and then eating a perfect steak (medium rare). Do not take mustard as sauce (many Turkish do) but taste the pure taste of the meat. It is truly close to perfect. Added here a very good local wine and you know your meal is very good. The only advice I can give : split smokers and non-smokers. The smell of cigarettes can ruin your good meal! And thank you for the plate with fresh fruit afterwards, it was free of charge and full of taste. A place to atttend to when you are in Ankara !

Very good Turkish food on a popular corner in the city. The kuzu tandir was excellent, as advertised. Lahmacun and bread were also solid. We were served a fancy Turkish teapot setup as well, which was neat but kind of kitchy--it didn't really fit the vibe of the restaurant. The service was OK; waiters were not particularly warm, but did their job. A decent stop for anyone looking for standard Turkish food.

Party of three, we had the onion soup, lukewarm and not at all how onion soups are served piping hot out of the oven. The steaks were cooked just right and were delicious, we also had the creamed spinach. But shortly afterwards all of us had an upset stomach, I suspect the soup or the spinach as those were the 2 common items

This is a typical Turkish kebab place which is full of happy turks The appetizers are brought to your table automatically, and then you order your main kebap separately. We were treated like royalty by the waiters, and could not even finish our plates there was so much food.

Åahin Dayı (Uncle Hawk) serves up excellent traditional Adana food - spicy Adana kebabs, shish, ribs, liver - basically anything you can do to a lamb. There's no menu - things just arrive at your table, so if you don't want everything, then say so, or you'll end up consuming so much meat it won't get out of your system for several days. The food quality is excellent, thanks in part to the fact that the meat is specially brought in from Diyarbakır and in part to a clever blend of spices. Wash it down with their own brand of shalgam - I don't normally go for this unusual and quintessentially Turkish beverage, but the stuff here is delicious, with an almost winey taste. Prices are reasonable considering the quality but by no means cheap, especially when you consider the decor, which makes you expect somewhere a lot more down-market.

Outstanding restaurant - the service and food quality were exceptional. If you're in this area of Ankara you should not miss this place. Turkish food at it's best. Highly recommended. [One of the other reviewers complained about all the meals having meat in them - but this place is not for vegetarians/vegans (there's a clue in the restaurant name). Personally I like vegetarian food but expecting that here is like looking for a polar bear in the Sahara.]
